Everyone is standing around wondering who won and stuff.

Well it looks like its time to bring on the Awards!

Let's swing our camera around and see if we can see it go up.

Well, Erin seems to be getting off work from Bairns & Nibbles.

HmMMM!

That seems to give me time try something I always wanted to do!

Hehehehehehehe!

Finally! Erin's Pirate Costume!

Yaa Haa Haa!

It does look pretty cool doesn't it?

Omigawd! She left the BCTS Legendary Artifacts out!

The Master Server Ring!

One ring to rule them all!

And the Golden Shoehorn of booting! I think I felt that on my behind once?

Ahh! The Tie Clip of Spiffiness! Always adds Charisma when worn!

I'd better change back out before I get caught!

Meanwhile... at the awards ceremony....

Erin walks up to the throne chair.

"This year we had our largest number of contestant entries in any contest we have ever had. Before I start with the awards, I would like to thank everyone involved - from the authors and readers alike! It is only by the combined efforts of all of you that we can make this possible.

Sephrena, get me the award slips."

"Starting at 6th place with a total of 38 votes, we award the prize amount of $25 to author Wren Erindae Phoenix for her entry A Lonely Christmas. Sadly, and from the bottom of my heart, I wish she was here in person to receive the award. Since this is not possible, it will be placed in trust in the BCTS server fund to keep our site alive.

Congratulations Wren on an outstanding story! Hugs."

"At 5th place, with a total of 39 votes, I award K.T Leone the prize amount of $25 for her entry of A Patch of Ice Christmas Parts 1-10. Well done, and I am looking forward to more of your writing this year too!"

"For 4th place, author Maddy Bell won with a total of 47 votes! Her entry Gabrielle Noel garnered her the prize amount of $50! Fantastic Writing Maddy!

"At..."

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Extravagance! My eyes are up here! Adjust that camera!

Extravagance cuts in and swings the camera to herself.

"For 3rd place, this Extravagant Honorable Samurai Berserker Cat-MegaTomboyauthor awards author Sigh with a vote total of 53 votes for his entry of Cruiser Lake Parts 1-5! Mega grats dear on the $50 you got! Woo hoo!"

"Extravagance! Let go of that camera!"

"You'll have to catch to me Sephy! Ha ha! woo hoo! Woo hoo!

"There's a ham on every web site!"

"Okay, Susan Brown took 2nd Place with 60 votes! Her entry, Christmas Changes Chapters 1-6, took the $75 prize! Super writing there Sue!

Okay Sephrena, you can do the top winner now."

The camera turns to Sephrena.

"The top prize of First Place for the 2012 One Winter's Eve Story Contest is..."

"...Antifreeze...Parts 1-8 by Bailey Summers. She had the most votes of anyone by a total of 79! She wins the $100 prize!

Sorry Sephy! Hehehehe!"

Hmmph!

"Well, we still are not done. Both of us still have 3 more Discretionary winners to pick from the list of those who did not win by voting. Each of those will win $33 each."

"The first Discretionary pick by Erin is - Song for a Winters Night by Moongoddess! The second pick is - A Home for the Holidays by Andrea DiMaggio!"

"And the final Discretionary pick, which I had done with a die roll is, Faith, Hope and Charity by Lin Dale! All 3 of these winners will receive $33 each as a prize!

"But we arent through yet! Here is the list of all our Honorary Entrants and their stories - ALL of which are winners to me!

I wish I had the money to let everyone win...

Erin evilly grinned,"Ohhhhhh... Sephrena, just so you know, I know you wore my Pirate Costume today!"

Gulp! "Ummmmmm..."

Glumly, I admit, "I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry, just get ready for bed."

Erin moaning while laying face down on the bed. "Well, We did have a great contest this year. You do a good job of getting everyone to join in on them."

"I try. I do it for our authors. I try to inspire everyone."

"Inspire this then! I get 70% of your cut on those pictures of me you offered with that doll sale of yours. And how did you get copies made of that Horst Diekgerdes shot of me? I have that locked in my safe!"

Finishing snapping up my nightie,"I downloaded that from the Pirate Bay site and printed up 1,000 copies at Kinko's with photo quality poster sheets."

Groaning, Erin sullenly said,"You, over there tonight. All by yourself!"

I'm glad I caught this on the BC channel....

...since I didn't have a thing to wear for the awards. Come to think of it, I don't have a thing to wear at all. Anyway, wonderfully done and a fine tribute indeed to Wren via the splendid awards presentation; kudos to Sephrena dear for the lovely if entirely provocative (whoo hoo) pictures and layout. And congratulations to everyone. It was pretty neat to see so many entries and such superb writing; not just well-written but all in all catching the spirit of the season. And a fond if very heartbreaking farewell to Wren. Thank you to Erin and Sephy and everyone involved in making this a place where I can live.

The Whole List...

...was up for a brief time this morning. (Tried to get in to vote at 2:05 am PST, since I was under the impression we had all of January 7 to do it, and got a listing saying that the voting was closed and giving the complete results. The names at the top were so far ahead and so well separated that my vote (and any others shut out) wouldn't have changed anything.

FWIW, my recollection was that you had a story in the top third of the balloting.

Eric

That was a HUGE Mistake! ><

on both myself and Erin's part. Both of us were so wasted that night, that we forgot to unpublish that module before the timer on it expired and it popped out the results.

As I said in my comment elsewhere I do not ever wish to post or display full voting results ever. It caused precisely last night exactly what I was trying to avoid and I got swamped with calls of people upset they didn't win and some heard they got so and so votes and wanted me to double check and tell them what they got, etc. I have had some people call me and tell me right to my face they will never enter a contest again. My handling of trying to include everyone despite the multitude of errors everyone made when entering was seen as being favoritism or not staying true to the contests rules. No matter what I do or did, I was the source of everyone's anger.

I know the voting thing isnt perfect. I will keep half of every contest in the future for selecting winners with dice rolls. That way, the way voting has been going, will not dis-include new authors and will give everyone who did not win a second chance like in a lottery. I am choosing that method because I do not believe I can find a panel of 5 people to impartially judge stories and compare their lists to select winners by the commonality between their lists. I do not believe that can be done here. And I want a way to make sure everyone has a chance! Somehow, someway - everyone!

Besides, I want the contests to be a get together, not some pecking order thing to show off to everyone and gloat about it. I want us all enjoy the fact we had people do this with us and have fun reading what they imagined for a goal, Thats what I want.

I know no one will agree with my vision for these contests.

I want them to be a fun thing. I want to include as many people as possible that are willing. I even upped the prize amounts and the number of prizes total.

What more can I give of myself to this site to get everyone to try and least cooperate and enjoy what we have?

I will make whatever sacrifice is necessary to achieve that.

When you figure that out please PM me with it.

Well you didn't have to go and do that! ^_^

Congrats to the winners, I think the good folks here made some good choices. There were many many great stories, but unfortunately they can't all win.

Have delightfully devious day,

Wow!

Nice presentation Sephy! Oh and good choices Erin! (Hugs) Taarpa

Im trying my best ><

There is so much work involved with trying to do a contest. I have to create things, Erin has to design a voting module, and we try to do things fairly.

The problem is I never wish to discuss the votes the people who did not win got. That leads down a path of hurt and resentment that I don't want anyone on. I have been getting calls asking for these and PM's and I will not!

I do not want a full ordered ranking list for everyone to gander at. Its hurtful and divisive. I just like putting up everything into 2 categories: those that won, and those that didn't win by voting but in my opinion won also, only I did not have the monetary funds to award everyone ><

I have another contest to put together for Valentine's day and it starts next week.

All of you won to me. all of you.

I am going to make myself scarce right now so I can relax. The Contest Awards page took 8 hours out of my life just to do.

The real winners . . ..

Hypatia Littlewings's picture

I think the real winners are the readers who go to read all these wonderful stories.

Awards page

It may have taken eight hours to compile, but the resulting page was definitely worth it :)
You also no doubt had tremendous fun coming up with the story concept and sourcing the pictures... :)

I am just glad that my story

I am just glad that my story brought enjoyment to its readers, that is all the reward I need. Thank you to those who read and enjoyed it, kudo wise it is my second popular story and that means more to me than anything else.

Many Thanks!

For all those who voted for me, many thanks.

I didn't expect to get many votes as there were so many good stories out there to choose from.

Congrats to all those who won and took part in the contest. The standard this year was very high and Bailey was a worthy winner.

Hugs
Sue

Sephy, please don't beat yourself up over this.

I think you did just fine. I also think the process was fine to. The little extra you and Erin came up with for the like wild card drawing of prizes gives all the participants in the contest a chance at winning something. I saw the results of the voting posted soon after the contest ended and I thought it was ok. I'm just a lowly reader here and I feel all the writers that took the time to post stories for the contest are winners in my book regardless of vote count. If anything should be different, I think it's that we need more people to participate in the voting end of it! Big Hugs & Kudo's to all who participated, and a Big thank you to you Sephy & Erin for all you do! (Hugs) Taarpa

Congrats and Thanks!! Huggies!!

First of course congrats to the winners and the rest of us who took up the challenge of Sephy's rules for this contest and came up with some wonderful stories. It is really dizzying to think that at the beginning some weren't happy with the constraints and Sephy feared that there wouldn't be a contest. I am happy we all proved that wrong and had the best turnout ever!

So much thanks to everyone who made this happy extravagance in story telling possible! Your hard work and dedication will always hold a special place in our hearts and the cosmos!

It was fun and emotional reading so many of them and to be honest I still am trying to read the later entries since I got so busy with boring other life stuff. Yuck!

Thanks to all who read my emotional and happy little story it was fun to write and as always create new characters. I love Christmas usually but this year found me in a very dark and sad place for many reasons so it was a little helpful to be able to come here and separate myself a little from all of that. So thanks to all of you who helped me, you know who you are! ;)

Thanks for the cute story announcing the winners Erin, Sephrena and Extravagance they and the images made me giggle!! I know how much work that took and it is worth it!! So big huggies!

Love to all and keep reading and writing and the faith!!
