I started on a new diet today, or at least a new plan for how I will eat.

I had lost about 75 pounds on the Adkins diet last year but once I got off of it I gained it all back. So the Adkins works but it really isn't something you can stay on for the rest of your life, besides being pretty boring just eating meat after a while (in the oh god I can look at a cow again kind of way).

I was watching the news this morning and it was talking about new years resolutions and about Apps that can help you keep them. The were showing this app lose it that helps you track your calories so I downloaded it just to see how it would work. And after one day (I know a little soon) I can say it works pretty good. first it asks you how much you weigh and what your ideal weight would be, then lets you choose how much you want to lose a week. with this data it can tell you when you will reach your ideal weight and how many calories a day you can eat.

Okay, pretty simple so far. You could probably do all that with a pin and some paper (and your old math teacher to do the actual work). What it does next is let you tell it what you are eating for the day. It lets you scan bar codes of any food and notes down how many calories it has and if it doesn't have a bar code you can look it up. It seems to have a very wide selection of foods to search from as well as having most major food chains meals in the list as well. It also has something for when you work out but I haven't tried that yet.

So far it seems to be just what you need if you want to count your calories. The hardest part has always been knowing how much something was and keeping track of it, and this app seem to do just that. Of course it can't stop you from wanting to eat more than your daily allotment but it has to have some flaw. :P

Here's hoping that this diet works out for me and is something I can stick with.

my dietician says I have to relearn to eat

What keeps the weight off is eating the foods the body needs. Me, I'm diabetic, so they are very specific what I need. The hard part for me is variety and learning to cook.
