A short article from yesterday's Sun newspaper, that may be of interest:

Unfortunately she isn't able to pass very well, and this has caused some problems for her. However
she appears determined to reach her goal, even going as far as talking about it in a national newspaper.

Blue eye shadow...

I do wonder about stories like this. There is a huge difference between a sympathetic report and a 'look at the freak!' masquerading as such. From past experience, such tales in one tabloid are usually followed by the nasty ones in the other tabloids that didn't get to buy the 'exclusive'.

I always have a little suspicion of leg-pulling when something is so stereotyped (says the burly ex-rugby forward in a skirt) but the reality of such a tale is what I was tryibg to get over in my story 'Uniforms'. We aren't all slight, feminine creatures able to slip easily into our sisters' clothes.

I agree

I don't get the point of doing stories like these. Even if the subject is a 'sistah' it is not doing the rest of us any favors really as it just brings back all the tabloid atmosphere about trans-girls. I am not saying that such prejudices are right per se but the reality is that the general public is not so discriminating at this point that they can put aside such stories as not being the side show freak of the month. Which again makes any person with a half a brain to wonder if it is a made up story with the squaddie merely taking the piss for some quick quids.
