Well folks, the snows here in the north east(usa) the're saying 12-20 inches for me here in the hudson valley and 2-3 feet for Boston and points north / east. So please any one here stay safe and home if you can! As for me, I must go do battle with the beast they call Nemo, wish me luck, it's going to be a long next 30 hours or so clearing roads. P.s. Please don't write to much, I'm already way behind in my reading! LOL!

Be careful.

What would I do without my only fan. Snowy smiles, Jenn.

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair

It's over for us

They called for 25 centimetres and boy, I can believe it. I was out there with the snowblower and it came up past my knees! Luckily the storm's left us. I can't believe you guys are expecting about double what we got.

I'm patiently waiting for Monday when the weather will go back up to 4°C and then rain washes away this mess. I just hope there's no follow up freeze. I'm so tired of all the salt.

Snow here and in Boston area is OK :-)

Sandstorm in February would have been much worse :-)
And safety first while cleaning all that snow! And enjoy yourself! My best pastime of them all is racing through the snowstorm :-)
;-)
WBR,
Racer, quite manic, especially in February :-)

Boston Area Weather Update

At 5 PM we had around 3 inches of snow in the suburbs north of Boston and wind is starting to pick up.

Mass Governor banned travel as of 4 PM. New Hampshire has banned travel starting at 7 PM.

Blizzard warning has been expanded to Saturday at 1 PM. Blizzard is defined as sustained 35+ mph winds with falling or blowing snow and visibility of ¼ mile or less, essentially near white-out conditions.

Update: As of 10 PM we are up to 10 inches of snow.

Report from the Connecticut coast had one area getting 5 ½ inches of snow in an hour. Also there are reports of thunder snow, thunderstorms imbedded in the snow storm.

I'm still fightin' the beast!

8 inches and counting. On break for an hour & half, still snowin' like crazy, but thankfully not much wind yet. I hope everyone's being safe out here. Oh and Erin, if you want more snow I have more than my share and I'm willing to share it with you! (giggles) . Seriously though, if your in the northeast please be safe out there! Jenn, thanks for the PM & I will hon. (Hugs) Taarpa

Why can't that Nemo

keep himself on his submarine the Nautilus instead of causing so much trouble?

On naming storms

For some reason, the Weather Channel came up with the ridiculous idea of naming winter storms this season. The only storms that should be named are tropical storms and hurricanes. The practice of naming winter storms is not endorsed by meteorologists at the National Weather Service, nor is it endorsed by any meteorology professors, including my meteorology professor. We've all gotten a kick out of it and laughed about it in class. So, as a meteorology major, I implore everyone to stop referring to these storms by their assigned names, because it's as laughable as all of the inaccuracies in the film Twister.

Cheers,

Drew
