If anyone happens to be in the Northern California region, come and see our production of a new musical theater adaptation of Francis Hodgson Burnett's "A Little Princess" at the Sacramento Theatre Company (in Sacramento, CA... if that weren't obvious). It's a wonderful story about never giving up on your dreams, about imagination and curiosity and understanding other people even if you don't agree with their choices. On top of that, it's a beautiful production with gorgeous music.

If you need more details on how to get tickets or find the theater, PM me.

Yes, but...

Not one I can share, I'm afraid. It's pretty rare to be able to share book or score of a professional musical. You can listen to 'early' versions of a couple of the songs on the composer's web site at http://www.ericrockwell.com/-a-little-princess.html and there's a good possibility that he'll have some recordings from our production on there at some point in the future (those recordings were simple ones with just piano for accompaniment... the full show currently uses piano, keyboard, harp, cello, flute, piccolo, clarinet, drum set including a LOT of accessories - xylophone, vibraphone, wind chimes, chimes, bell tree, wood blocks, and around eight different cymbals played by 5 musicians... with a cast of 21)

Lovely story

I enjoyed very much reading that story to my daughter (and myself!).

But I'm curious - how did you manage the monkey?

Just like most politicians -

Just like most politicians - offer them bribes.. I mean, campaign contributions?

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

The easy way

We managed it the easy way, the writers of the musical didn't include it in the script for this adaptation.

Clever

Clever! Best of luck with the show.

It sounds like fun

I wish Sacramento was closer, but the commute is a bitch through Fairfield. Living in the SF bay area the drive will take three hours to get there. Good luck with your production, Arecee

Amtrak

is an option to get from the Bay Area to Sacramento. The train station is about 10 blocks from the theater.

Yep yep

I'm not sure how late the trains run, so evening performances might not work for someone coming in by Amtrak. But we do mid-day matinees a couple days a week that would work pretty easily for someone that wanted to come into town (12:30 on Thursdays, 2:00 on Sat and Sunday).

Wouldn't help me much. I'm

Wouldn't help me much. I'm in Houston.

True that

Yes, I suspect Houston is a bit too far to drop in and see it... unless you're an Artistic Director or Dramaturg for a company looking for new works to put on your stage. :)

Nope, I may have spent 7+

Nope, I may have spent 7+ years in theatre, but I was a tech. You know put the X on the floor after looking up for a bit, then asking an actor to stand on it while I go check something at the ropes....
