Well it looks like the DRU might be winding down sadly, I blame myself. I haven't been giving it the attention and the care that I have been in the past. Stories will still be written for it of course, there are stories being written for it now in fact but sadly its just not as popular as it was before. I promise to try my hardest to finish the last two I've been working on. I know the others will try to finish theirs as well :)

In the meantime, a group of us have decided we want to try something a little different. We're going to be creating a new universe...one where ordinary people suddenly discover they can do Extraordinary things. I hope to have the first chapter of my new story in it up in a few days or so.

So thanks again for being loyal DRU and I hope you will continue to do so in the future,

But wait

Isn't that like the Incredible? Where everyone that's ordinary who can now due extraordinary accomplishments are now the superhero's and when all are super there's nothing extraordinary about them?

Looking forward to it.

Very like the direction of what I'm doing with Starchild

A minor planet full of djinn is accompanying the earth and sometimes even casual wishes are being granted. But the effects tend to be permanent.

I did intend to open the universe up after I finish the first story rack.

Popularity of the DRU

For a while, there were lots of DRU stories covering the same set of characters in the same place, then they started to branch out to lots of other places with all new characters who didn't connect with the originals (some of which I found much less interesting, especially as it wasn't clear if they would ever connect back or not). And then, of course, it seemed like new chapters of almost all of the DRU stories disappeared—maybe because of the behind-the-scenes issues. So maybe the lack of popularity was due to some combination of the loss of focus and then the lack of updates.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll all check out the new stories in the new universe. I hope everyone continues to get along long enough for the series to reach a conclusion.

Cheers!

It may be...

...just a seasonal slowdown. After all, it's summer in the Northern hemisphere and people may wish to (or be persauded to) spend time outside rather than in front of their computers :)

There are plenty of stories in progress - just because the relevant authors haven't posted anything in a while doesn't mean they've abandoned their characters / stories.

Having said that, two other universes featuring people with unusual abilities (Lilith's The Center and Comics Retcon) appear to be largely dormant, with very little in the way of updates this year.

As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

True enough

It really takes a core set of authors though to keep it alive unless the originating author is willing to keep the pilot light of the universe alive.

DRU needs something to really stir the pot to revive interest. Tracy, for example, is only starting to get into the groove. Also, it is a shame to let a universe die before it is understood why these changes are happening at all. If it is to die, then let it go out with a bang instead of a whimper. So far all the stories are pulling in very different direction, with no really deep dynamics between the various unseen groups.
