I've done another of Charlotte's Tale so haven't had a chance to do Bike tonight. Hopefully tomorrow should have normal service returned.

bike

How can you pop a wheelie or go vert on a bike like that? I'm waiting for Bike - the next generation, the one about the kid who does tricks and has a hole in his ear.

Writing is what you do when you put pen to paper, being an author is what you do when you bring words to life

Yiiiiii !!!!!

LOL I was alternately screaming and fear and laughing in glee. Then they showed the outtakes !! Boom, bang, crash, poor boy. He is so hot, um and good. :)

Venus Rising

Will try a few chapters of Charlotte's Tale despite being averse to characters who say Mummy or Daddy. Nicknames from well known people like Charlotte Church are fun so I offer, with your Welsh roots, Dai Williams who through his tennis playing becomes nicknamed Venus.
If Katie thinks the bike you picture is lacking then I offer this one which lacks even spokes http://www.viralnova.com/spokeless-bike/

You write...

You write, we read... I've yet to see something that wasn't worth the read come from your typing. Some are more thought provoking than others. I may fall behind a few days, but...

Thanks for this note, too.

Magic bicycle

That bike is magic, it has invisible pedals and a disappearing saddle :)

It's Angharad's writing that matters; that she manages to keep so many narrative balls in the air at the same time is just amazing--and pure gravy.

in my meagre abilities, it doesn't seem to be shared by many on this site. Of all the stories I write, I get more requests for more Charlotte than any other (unless I threaten to stop Bike). Sadly, none of the requesters appear to have commented or contacted me, nor does it seem many of the readers/hits (over 860) appear to like it enough to give it a kudos. Given it takes a lot longer to write this story than some of my other stuff, I might well discontinue it here and eventually complete it as a novel.

I don't know how many times we authors ask for some recognition for our efforts, seeing as no payment is required from readers, in the form of comments or kudos, but it seems to fall on deaf ears because most readers appear to be casual visitors, a bit like blowflies. They'll perhaps be happy when they've driven us to write for money only.

Zen diagram

Rhona McCloud's picture

First thank you for the YouTube bike video which I've shared so that my younger generation can panic about their younger generation breaking their necks doing stunts.
On to Charlotte's Tale and I've read the first 4 parts which, with adjustment, seems best suited to be published as a novel for teenagers!
My thinking on this is where the Zen Diagram comes in - it is like a Venn Diagram but without the angst!
Questions:-
1.who are you directing this story toward;
2.who is actually reading the story;
3.who is giving you feedback?
I guess there is very little overlap which would explain the feedback pattern. You show for your imagined readers Charlotte's knowledge of operatic sopranos but I suspect that was less significant to real readers than that she was a singer because I think they are in the 13-18 year old range and aren't supposed to read BC. My feedback you can safely say is not from that age group and now I will get back to my "Bike" catch up (episode 514)
