Bike puncture

Hi folks, after such touching commentaries concerning Seven years of Bike (perhaps we could get John Williams to do the soundtrack?)I hate to say I probably won't write one tonight. Been a bit of a busy day driving up to Wales to take my ex to Cardiff to buy a new suite, cooking lunch for her(my suggestion)and then going to see my daughter and doing a ride with her in the afternoon. She's still not back to her old self so I really appreciated her giving her time and energy to indulge me a ride. Then driving back and sorting out two rapacious moggies.

Last night, I went for a quick ride before making my dinner and had a bit of a walk home with a flat back tyre. In the end I decided to put on a new spare tyre as well as tube, then looked to get a matching one for the front wheel - looks like they don't make them anymore - so my luck hasn't changed much, has it.

I suppose I'd better have something to eat as it's 10.00pm here. Hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow.

Meryl Streep Reading Bike

Rhona McCloud's picture

Maybe not John Williams but John Barry Angharad? I now have burned in my mind the picture of you pushing your bicycle home through the countryside on a summer's evening while the theme from Out of Africa plays and Meryl Streep reads from The Daily Dormouse

Did the soundtrack for 'Seven Years in Tibet.'

Hm. Maybe Elmer Bernstein

Hm. Maybe Elmer Bernstein instead?

(Theme from The Magnificent Seven)

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Thanks again

Thanks again for all the hours of entertainment and relaxation your writing has given me. One night without Bike after all this time and thousands of verses is totally understandable. You have been great and I hope to read more of your short stories as well.

You said the 'P' word!

And the P-fairies duly visited. To banish them, you must now dance naked widdershins around a willow.

John Williams

Given the variety of things he's composed I'm sure he could come up with something appropriate. Perhaps something like the theme to Gilligan's Island (he did that) or Lost in Space (he did that, too). Though, I really think the kind of song Mel Brooks has written would fit Bike a tad better. (Just take a listen to the songs in "Young Frankenstein: The Musical" or "The Producers" or even the movie "Blazing Saddles".

Best wishes - glad you still have some of your family to spend time with, and doubly glad your daughter's doing so much better.

I've just pictured Ang cresting the brow of a hill, pushing the steed, to the "Big Country" theme.

"Reach for the sun."
