Project Strangewayes

Prologue:

"Byron! How...? What in the good lords name have you done?! Let us aboard at once!", my tutor, one of the few people left that I trusted, was livid. I could understand why, but this has to be done.

"Sorry Sir, I can't do that. The Strangewayes is too powerful for you or any power to have. The world would not be safe!"

"Byron! How could you say that to me? Of all people?"

"Can you honestly say with complete truth that she would not be abused in the hands of ours, the British or any other government?"

I had him there, and he knew it. In a desperate effort he pulled the last card he had.

"Killing yourself and those you have trapped aboard will not solve anything. You know as well as I that some other scientists will eventually find out how Repellium works as you have, you will die for nothing!"

I suppose they thought that getting rid of me would get them their prize back. Talking to me was just a ruse so I would let my guard down for them to take the shot. Now a man was dead. I couldn't help feel responsible for that since he was just following orders. This had gone too far. I needed to make sure that no government would be able to utilise Repellium ever again.

Only... How do I do that trapped aboard the Strangewayes, with the few scientists and crew that were aboard held hostage by me? Completely surrounded by soldiers and with only a minuscule barrier protecting me from them. A barrier that would eventually run out of energy.

It was time to pull the one card I had left...
