Well, my doctor got the results of my ultrasound and its much worse than I could have feared. My liver is very fatty, my kidneys are enlarged, and I am in serious trouble unless I can make a total 180 on my eating habits.

You add to this the fact I was already struggling emotionally and spiritually, and I am in a very bad place at the moment.

hugs and prayers appreciated.

Emotions and eating can go hand-in-hand

It's not easy to manage. Find someone you can talk to. A good professional can help you through this. I hope mental health is part of your health plan. I'm pulling for you!

And the problem is?

Sounds to me like you have a choice. You can continue as you are at present with the sure knowledge that you will die of liver desease.

Or, you do a '180' with the increased probability of living a longer, healthier and more productive life. That's not a reason to feel depressed. That's a reason to be jubilant.

You have a clear path leading to improvement in your current health status. Do it!

Dorothy. You need to work out what you can immediately do and what you need to do over the long term. Organize your problems and solutions.

Walk

erin's picture

Get approval from your doctor but take up a habit of walking. I try to walk three to five miles a day and although I am overweight, my liver and heart are in good shape. It does help with controlling the appetite, too.

Hugs,
Erin

if you take up what Erin

if you take up what Erin suggests--??

I personally go to the local Mall to walk...lots of flat level ground..plenty to look at ...good temp all day, water is everywhere!, there are seats nearly everywhere and ifs not boring! like walking on a path can get at times?

and I have diet issues too--this helped me a bit---if your are going to eat take what you want--then cut it in half and leave that in the kitchen for later and walk away--then at least you have to go back to get it and that slows you down. Add small bowls for snacks or small bags and never take the whole bag of chips with you to watch TV! you will eat it all like I used to is my bet

good luck! wee need more Mercy stories!

Dorothy. This can be done. You've got this far and got through some crap too, I have confidence that you have it in you.

Maybe some help?

If I may, I recommend Overeaters Anonymous as a support group to investigate. Hopefully, you can find one that is near you. They address the issue stepwise one day at a time, understand the difficulty, and that weight loss is not linear. A good sponsor from OA can be a terrific individual support system for you also. Your mileage may very depending on the leadership within the group as it's a volunteer self help organization.

Sorry Hun

Oh Dottie, it looks like your problems are reverseable . It's easier to walk a bit than it is to diet. Get your blood sugar in check, this will help the kidneys alot.

Hugs,Karen
