Doing an extensive GI to my apartment and find I have two old Computers lying around. Both were working when I shut them down. One is a big ASUS N50V. Laptop. The sticker says it has VISTA in it but I know it has Linux because I bought it from a place that only sells them used with Linux. I'll likely leave the HD, of unknown size in it. I never really learned Linux, so didn't put anything on it.

The other is a Dell XPS 430 with NO hard drive. I'll remove it for security.

I can either take them down to the recycle place, or they are free to anyone who wants to ship them. I have no idea of the cost to ship them.

These are free, with no guarantee.

I'll wait a couple days to see if there is any interest and then see what happens. I'm in Portland, Oregon.

Portland weather

Today it's been sunny and about 45 Degrees. I don't know if it is Global Warming or not but we've been in a drought. It's supposed to rain tomorrow late. I'm sure that in the present political climate, we'll see if Global Warming is real or not. Maybe we can water ski on the Arctic Ocean and harvest bananas in Barrow?

We may have about a week's snow between now and March. In the Summer it gets over 100 for a couple weeks. The rest if pretty perfect.

Weather

There was a Texan, an Alaskan, and an Oregonian talking. The Alaskan said to the Texan, "I hear it gets pretty hot down there in Texas." The Texan replied, "Yep, but it's a dry heat and you don't notice it so much. But what about Alaska? Doesn't it get pretty cold up there?" The Alaskan replied, "Yes, but it's a dry cold and you don't notice it so much." Then they turned to the Oregonian and asked. "What about Oregon? Doesn't it rain there a lot?" The Oregonian replied, "Yes, but it's a dry rain and you don't notice it so much."

Actually, Portland Oregon doesn't even rate in "Top 101 cities with the highest average yearly precipitation" list, but it's number three in the "Most Rainy Days" list.

You'll never hear anyone from

You'll never hear anyone from East Texas saying "it's a dry heat". That's West Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada. (Maybe Utah).

In Houston, it's more like this. "How's the heat? Oh, I swam to work this morning in my own sweat."

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Rain in Portland

Years ago I had a girlfriend in Portland. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was going to drive up to see her during the Rose Festival. She told me to bring an umbrella. I replied "why, it's June?" She insisted, so I brought one, and, sure enough, it rained.

I seems to me I can remember more rainy Rose Festival parades than dry. However the ones that were dry were unseasonably hot.

I have cousins that live in Kansas and came to visit often when I was young. They maintained we had two kinds of weather; rainy and unusual.

If you ship the XPS to

If you ship the XPS to someone, have them drop me a line. I'll send them a hard drive with the basic OS loaded on it. Just make sure it has the screws and caddy.
