2021-12 Christmas Holidays Story Contest

I'm Back On!

Okay, to make a long story short, my pc was taken out by a worm that f'ed up the bios controls that then fried my processor and motherboard and took out the hard drive too that had all my contest stuff on it. It was a Russian worm that they dont have a commercial means of removing yet. And it came from an anime site and I had used the vivaldi browser. Because of the way vivaldi worked, the browser let stuff load before it blocked it. Well, live and learn. Im using Firefox plain and simple. No more Chrome.

Chapter 2: Light-bearer

Snow's whole life changes when the winter solstice arrives.

I nodded and smiled. “Good, now you should all try to get some sleep and I should get back to tending the light. But first, how about I sing you all one of the ever-night songs?”

A True Christmas Miracle

by Jennifer Sue

The backstory is the author’s autobiography. Most names and places have been changed.

*****
During the years after WWII the Raven family, while in many ways typical for the era, was anything but normal. The backstory began in the early spring of 1944. Then 20 year old Chuck Raven’s unit had just completed paratrooper training, allowing him to come home on leave before shipping out to Britain. Lorraine Rees, a stubborn and feisty 17 year old high school junior, had been forbidden to go out with a grown man. After arguing and sent to her bedroom, she locked her door and climbed from her bedroom window to the front porch roof, then eased over the edge to shimmy down a porch column to go out with him. Lorraine dropped out of school at the start of her senior year, giving birth to a son, Leroy, in January 1945. Since Chuck had been sent to Europe, a shotgun wedding had been impossible. Chuck’s parents lived on a farm a mile outside the town of Grantsport, 8 2/3 miles north of Reading, where Lorraine lived. When the weather turned warmer in the spring, she’d bundle her baby and walk the mile long dirt road out to the farm so the infant could meet his grandparents, 2 uncles, and a great grandmother.

'You can't do this to me!' I say. Pointlessly. I'm pretty sure Karl can do anything he wants to me.
All he has to do is look at me with those deep, dark eyes and I start going all soft and unfocussed
and gooey and the next thing I know I've agreed.
But he doesn't know that.
I hope.

Chapter 1: Ever-night

Snow's whole life changes when the winter solstice arrives.

No! As much as I hated my body, I refused to go down like that, just giving up and letting death walk right up and take my hand.

Mark has a crush on Alison. Alison agrees to date Mark if Mark will take her friend Rachael on a dream date first.
Rachael is dying of cancer and wants one first, and last, special date with a boy. Alison has arranged a special pass to Disneyland Paris for the two of them and she was going to accompany Rachael, but she will give the ticket to Mark, if he will take special care of Rachael.
Mark agrees, because he feels guilty and believes he can earn some brownie points with Alison.

Sorry for the late entry. Life happened.

Note: To those of you who have trouble with religious ideas in this genre, I suggest that you skip this story. When I think of Christmas, I cannot help but think of its religious foundations. It is from these thoughts, that this story has sprung.

Chapter 01
The Gift

Summary: Lewis gets a great collection of gifts for Christmas that any 12-year old boy would love, but until he gets his secret gift, true happiness is unknown.

The Camel.

This story is a parallel theme to the my previous Christmas story that missed the deadline for an earlier Christmas holiday competition. It is something of a partner story to 'The Lamb' and follows the good fortune of a young effeminate cameleer living in Arabia. It is worth reading 'The Lamb' before reading this offering but even so, 'The Camel is a 'stand-alone' story in it's own right.
The theme may not please some fundamentalist bible punchers, but do I care? Not a jot!

Happy reading,

Beverly xx

The following story takes place in the Arctic Fox universe, but at this moment isn’t part of canon. It may be later, but I haven’t decided on that. For now, consider it a ‘what if’ story.

Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays.

Thank you to Malady for his help editing, and as usual, bouncing my ideas off of.

Your help is much appreciated!

This isn’t your usual BigCloset story. It started out as an oral story, a tale to tell on a story-telling evening. So you have to imagine that you’re hearing me tell this story to a group of people at night by the fireside.

Resurrection

December 2021 Christmas Holidays Story Contest Entry

This is a sequel to “Burial”. Together the titles hint at Easter rather than Christmas. Appearances can deceive.

My second coming (back) to South Odom was less discreet than my first. The motorcade consisted of a large black armored limousine with tinted windows preceded by three black armored SUVs and with another three SUVs behind. Of course we entered the town at the maximum speed allowed. Did I mention that I among other things I own a security company and business is always slow just after New Year?

Burial

lights06.gif

December 2021 Christmas Holidays Story Contest Entry

In my eyes the town looked as miserable as it had done 25 years before when I left it. I suppose it was OK if you had a thing for Midwest small towns. A long way from any sizeable city it was the commercial center for a wide swathe of the countryside. Not that the aforementioned countryside was particularly densely populated. I passed a small mall when entering the town. That was new. However, the main reason for the existence of the town was The Mill. Most of the working population worked for the mill directly or indirectly. The fact that I arrived on a cold and windy December day didn’t matter. I couldn’t have hated South Odom any more anyway.
