Farewell - a Musical Tribute to a Fallen Hero

Into the West

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You’ve come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All souls pass

Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time
Don't say:  «We have come now to the end »
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West

Well done dear Mom...

Drea, thank you for finding this song for T.D. I miss her so already. We shared a few PM messages some months ago, and now I feel this loss very deeply. Hugs, Wendy Marie

And may...

...that last lighthouse guide her ship safely in to the far harbor, carried there on Ulmo's hand. May she find rest in the halls of Mandos, and sweet dreams in the gardens of Lórien. May Nienna's tears wash away her hurts of this life, and she find healing at the hands of Estë. May she find those she loved who went before her, waiting for her there with open arms, may she be reconciled with those from whom she was estranged, and may those she has left behind join her there in their own full time.

Oh "Drea, Your musical

Oh "Drea,
Your musical tribute to Teddi was so wonderful and really teared me up just to listen to it and think of her. Thank you so very much for finding it. I do know that I, for one, will think of her each time I listen to this song. With affection and hugs, Jan

Thanks for the Tribute

They're beautiful lyrics, but they weren't enough for me. I had to write a story. I don't mean to diminish or compete with your tribute, merely add to it.

Thanks.

By all means...

...this is my way of paying tribute, but only one of many. Liz' beautiful prayer, Kelly's blessing...we all have something to share...It's not really about diminishing my effort; I only compiled the lyrics to a beautiful song that reminds me of my own sweet sister's passing, but I didn't write it. You, writing a story in tribute will not diminish anything already said, but add to the expressions of loss and grief in a highly personal way I could not hope to duplicate. Nothing will satisfy the ache in your heart other than how you will deal with it in your way. I will read your story and be glad!

She was born for all the wrong reasons but grew up for all the right ones.
