GARDEN OF LOVE/ SCORCHED EARTH

I pass by a garden of love
Once planted and tended by a pair of friends
Now reduced to a tinder
Bare and black with ash

The gardeners sit in opposite corners
Unwilling to surrender their part
Of the savaged earth
Each guilty of striking the match
That set the place ablaze
It was lost quickly to the fire
Because there is no hotter flame
Than the one that blazes
When love turns to spite
I hope that this garden will serve as a warning
And remind all gardeners of the dangers
Of the weeds of neglect
The withering rot of loss of respect
But especially the risk
Of such an overwhelming flame
That even the children planted in the garden
Can be destroyed
Or carry burn scars ever after.

And yet...

... even in a desert there is an oasis
Even when love runs cold little bit green may remain
As there are feelings when there is pain
Can the gardners make this little part blossom?

Hate and love ... love and hate
Both sides of the force
Strong is the appeal of the dark side, wise ones say
Should the garden left to rot and decay
Or should the old lovers pick up their tools and work together again
So just a little part should blossom?

Ps. my parents have fought like cats and dogs as long as I can remember. My mother has told me that she hates my father. Yet they are still together and care for each other. I suppose there is also a message in there...
