Is there anybody going to listen to my story
all about the Gurl who came to stay?
I’m not the kind of Gurl
I hoped to be, it makes me sorry
still I don't regret a single day
Ah, Gurl Gurl

When I think of all the times
I tried so hard to leave her
She would speak to me and start to cry
And I promised the earth to her
And she believed me
After all this time I don't know why
Ah, Gurl, Gurl

She's the kind of girl who I put down
When friends were there
I still feel a fool
When I said our future's good
She acted as if it's understood
It was cruel, ooh, ooh, ooh
Gurl, Gurl, Gurl

Was she told when she was young
that pain might still lead to being?
Did she understand when it was said
That there‘s no turning back
Just hope and pray? Maybe never seeing…
Will she still believe it in the end?
Ah, Gurl, Gurl, Gurl
Ah, Gurl, Gurl

Beautiful, Drea

And, of course, most timely.

Will she still believe it, in the end? Will any of us? I hope and pray, too, that it's yes.

Ah, gurl. You make me cry.

beautiful, hon

Sad Song

Seems most unfortunately appropriate for this age.

Also, was this lyric provoked by the uncharitable thread just recently posted.

OK Drea

Because of who you are and that I respect your talent I read the offering.

I'll take it as good-natured ribbing. It makes me smile just a little. However I'm not sure that Lennon and McCartney would appreciate it even that much, considering they, in the song you referenced for this parody, spelled it "Girl."

"That there‘s no turning back
Just hope and pray? Maybe never seeing…"

It's definitely taking the leap of faith, no turning back now.

Excellent stuff Drea. :DD
