Normally I'd message the Author and/or Poster about such errors, but sadly, both are no longer with us.
So I assume it would then fall to the sites admins to correct this.
Someone following the in chapter links to Previous/Next chapter wouldn't necessarily spot the errors, and it messes up the "Printer Friendly Version" as well
I have not read the Novel yet, and spotted this as I was about to start.

To make it easier to spot the problem Chapters, I've bolded, and aligned them.
- Center Aligned = Chapters in wrong order That is the most likely mistake, but wrong numbering is also possible.
- Left Aligned = Chapters with same number, only Chapter 23, and 24 affected by this, and order is correct.
- Bulleted Chapters = Where the displaced chapters should have been

I think I did start reading this a few months back, when I first discovered this site, and it was the disjointed chapters that caused me to stop reading when I got to Chapter 5, but didn't realise why it made no sense at that time.
Whilst creating an offline copy, to reorder the chapters for my own use, I spotted another Dual chapter numbering error.
This time it's only in the on page heading, not the link.
Chapter 33 The Trial-Episode 4, is listed as Chapter 32 in the document Heading.
Finally, the original version Tragedy of the Spirit by Prairie Girl is equally messed up, but strangely in an entirely different order.
Chapter numbering
One of the problems is that the submissions get a filename which is what you put in the title. If you subsequently change that title, it reflects what the reader sees but the filename remains the same.
This will happen when, say, you realize that you posted the wrong chapter and then rename it so the right one goes in - or you posted the right one but simply got the name or number wrong so changed it.
I have had things like this happen to me when I've renamed a book title. Everyone sees the new title but the filename, and hence what comes up when you mouse over the link, is the original.
I also had a problem in SEE where I posted chapter 89, then decided it should be split in two - and renamed what was already there as 90! Hilarity didn't ensue, but I had a zombie extra chapter 89 around for ages that nobody could get rid of.
These things happen. What you describe above might possibly be a database error or some kind of corruption somewhere along the line. I know from experience that (i) these things can be frustrating and (ii) they can be very difficult to find and fix.
Erin and the elves are very busy and I have no doubt that someone will look at what you have found. Sometimes such things can be a symptom of a deeper problem so it is always wise to report such things whenever you see them.
