Viper: part 10

Chapter nineteen:

We went to bed early, all three of us intent of being at our best, when we engaged the enemy. Up early as well we checked one last time all we had in the car and France checked my gun and ammunition just to make sure. I placed it in the bag, drew it with lightning speed, pretended to aim and put it back satisfied. Then we joined in the Chi Kung for gathering all possible energy and join our senses as a group. When the sun was fully over the horizon we set off.

Chapter seventeen:

I didn’t have much hope for the mayor either, this day wasn’t going to be a happy one. Was there anywhere I could address myself to get someone to do something? Franco and Giovanni didn’t look very happy either. I didn’t think any of us had got much sleep, in Franco and my case none whatsoever and dad didn’t look like he’d slept much either. When Selena and Giulia appeared to find out what the shouting had been about and Selena took me in her arms I was ready to cry. Somehow her presence calmed me, though, and I snuggled deeply into her embrace. That was enough to tell her I was exhausted.

Chapter fifteen:

I was tired having watched over Barbara, Tino and her girls, but I knew there might be a visit of some more Carabinieri, so I went and got washed, put some nice feminine clothes and make-up on and then clued Marina and Bianca up on what we had done during the night. Franco was soon back with me, also cleaned up, changed and wearing an after shave. I could not help a giggle.
“Out to impress your Queen, Dì yī qíshì?” I asked punching his shoulder playfully.
“Our quarters are not quite as luxurious as yours, Lóng nǚwáng. With all those others there was barely enough hot water to shave, so having realised your delicate nose I thought I’d rather disguise any smells.”

Chapter thirteen:

Marina and Bianca were the first to put their arms around my neck half giggling and half crying with joy. Selena was not far behind.
“Xiăolóng, my angel, I am so glad you are safe!”
Finally the tension left me and I cuddled into her embrace.
“I am and have been all the time, mum, but it can be hard to be the dragon.”
“What happened?”
“We got the family safe, mum, but you do not want to know how.”
“More broken necks?”
“Mum, please stop asking.”

Chapter eleven:

For a moment I had thought the Commissario would faint. Then it looked like he was going into shock, but slowly his senses were able to convince him, that he was NOT dreaming. Confusion and indecision battled in his expression, before he looked finally straight into my eyes. I smiled.
“Did you really think I was trying to deceive you with a story like mine? Nobody could possibly invent such a thing, Commissario.”
“You broke the solid oak table with that little fist of yours? How is that even possible?”

Chapter nine:

Knowing that there were enough armed guards around the house for me to be woken by a considerable racket if someone tried to breach the property, which would give me time to prepare, I had a good night’s sleep. Marina and I were up and dressed before we woke Bianca. While Marina prepared her for the day I went to find Franco. He was getting the strongest of the remaining cars ready. He smiled as he saw me.

Chapter seven:

This time the shit hit the fans. The next morning there were headlines all over the place. The house that had blown up was known to be the property of a high ranking Mafia family and there had been more than a dozen dead “soldiers” with broken necks plus quite a sizeable number of corpses burnt beyond recognition. The servants and Bianca’s parents alike had told the Carabinieri a story of the ghost of a woman known as Viper, who had come and killed all the soldiers and carried them from the explosion. As the Carabinieri did hardly find any traces at all and the guard dogs, four Dobermans, no less, had broken necks, too, the rumours spread rapidly. Nobody found any traces other than those of the people who lay the charges. The Vatican actually sent a group of priests to clear the site and Grandpa and I cracked up laughing at the news.

Chapter five:

That night changed a lot of things and yet not. Our friends at school had always suspected that there was more between us than sisterly affection. They simply accepted what our relationship was. There were boys that tried to ridicule us, but Marina’s brothers, who were in more advanced classes, nevertheless let it be known, that whoever messed with us would have to face their retribution. Marina and I always giggled at that, as we both knew, what would happen to a boy who got too boisterous with me.

Chapter one:

Life can be hard in some cases. How an individual copes is entirely up to the person’s character. Some choose to accept what is expected of them, others decide to make their own rules. In a lot of cases those who do think themselves superior to other human beings. A very few see their ability as an obligation to their fellow humans. Those who use that obligation in a completely selfless fashion are few and far between. My mother was one of the last category. She had been born on Christmas 1928 in Hamburg, Germany, and was not quite eleven years old, when the war broke out. She did not have an easy childhood, when she was 5 years old by accident she stumbled next to her mothers wash tub in her hurry and fell with her rear into the still almost boiling laundry. She showed me her bottom but once to warn me about tubs with hot water and the scars from the scalding were quite extensive. I was only four and they frightened me a lot. It took me until puberty, before I understood what effect that experience had had on her.

The big man behind the desk had a nasty smile on his face.
“You see, little woman, I can do any harm to your boss I like.”
His smile wavered when he did not find the reaction in my eyes he expected. Instead he saw an ironic smile appear.
“That might be true,” I said while my right hand snuck into the handbag on my lap and under the money that seemed to fill it “under the condition you survive.”
My hand came up in a flash and with two noises that sounded like flop, flop, two holes appeared, one in each forehead of the two bodyguards, who flanked him. Now he was looking into the muzzle of the silencer on my .32 Walther PP. I left exactly the time for panic to appear in his face, before I shot him, too.

Curtain Fall Chapter 01

I’ve always been fond of “what if” ideas and I’ve long wondered what would happen if a world altering cosmic event were to occur. One of my favorite stories along this line is “The Day the World Changed” by Morpheus and a book called “Wearing the Cape” by Marion G. Harmon. I highly recommend you try it! This is also my first attempt at story writing so please offer constructive criticism and hopefully encouragement!

I was afraid of what this might mean. How can the Earth gate be opened without the ring and necklace or the right celestial events?

“It must be Vikold. Syette, did you know he could do this or what his plans are?”

Saurel moved towards me and held two objects, one in each hand. One was a collar like the one Sharian was wearing and the other was a silver orb.
