The Wrath of Achilles

This is sequel to An Achean Tale and will make more sense if you read that first. I had no plans to write a sequel but the idea of the unknown tomboy's reaction to the amazons just wouldn't go away. There will not be any more of these. It was too hard to keep this light in a war. I basically just glossed over truths about casualties and the fate of female captives. I read a bowlderized version of the Illiad almost sixty years ago. Since then it has always been a part of the accepted cultural background of my life without ever reading a decent translation. That may have to change.

The Secret Life of Millicent Shakspeare

William Shakspeare is a teenager in Stratford upon Avon, longing for a career on the stage. When he receives word that Anne Hathaway wishes to see him, he hurries to meet her – not least because she’s the only person outside his immediate family who knows his secret…

Doubts 2

Becky continues her narrative of her life, constantly weighing the cost of being who she is.

I'm back in my office fighting tears. I want to know who the complainer is but know it's best I do not. If I knew I would run to her, tell her I too know fear, or at least I did. I was able to escape mine, suppressed it for decades while I receiving daily doses of testosterone against my will, becoming a man. Except I feel fear again now sometimes when I walk alone in the dark from Metro to my car. I no longer feel I could defend myself against an attack.

Doubts, A Narrative

Doubts

The following is not story. It is a narrative. It doesn’t start at the beginning, and it is not known where it will end. But it will; everything does. There will be several sequential posts as the author is motivated. Since it is a narrative there is no dialogue and it is always in the present tense. The intent is not to entertain but to inform and to incite understanding, context, perspective. Ideally a reader my gain an appreciation where we are today, and what it will take for a better tomorrow. Enjoy.

What if? Part 9

The calm before the storm?

The next morning the Greeks assembled the funeral pyre and a messenger was sent to inform us that the pyre would be lit by nightfall. There were only Kassandra, Hector, myself and Demeter who went. Helena wanted to come, but I asked her not to, as I thought it better to keep the provocations to a minimum. That morning Kassandra and I had told Hector, Andromache, Demeter and Helena the whole story about how Patroklos had come to be in Achilles armour. I had the feeling the only one who truly understood was Helena. However Hector was evidently so happy, that I was there and his sister better than she had been in a while, that he just accepted our actions as necessary. As I watched him with Andromache and their son I realized, what a change she had worked in him without him knowing. He had become an attentive husband, a loving father and a caring brother, in short a lovely man. I was happy for Andromache.

What if? Part 8

Mother:

We stayed in bed almost all of the next morning, in fact as long as Aphrodite could keep Helena occupied, without actually taking her out to New York or wherever would take Helena’s fancy. Both of them appeared in our bedroom at about midday, carrying a tray with food, after Aphrodite had made sure they weren’t interrupting anything sexual. I, on the other hand, wasn’t sure if there was anything sexual, that would surprise little Helena. She seemed so adult sometimes.

What if? Part 7

Explanations:

The apartment was huge. There was a big although wonderfully cozy lounge with a fake fireplace, that had gas flames burning a metal log, but gave off almost the real kind of heat. A study that held quite an extensive library and four bedrooms with en suite bathrooms each, that actually had real baths. There was a kitchen that a chef would envy with a dining area and being a penthouse, a roof terrace. Maureen must have been well in demand, no wonder with her beauty.

What if? Part 6

News from the past:

So that night, settled comfortably in the arms of my love, I thought of Kassandra and went in search of her. It did not take long for me to find her, but what I found scared me thoroughly. She was alone and huddled on the ground, surrounded by dark threatening figures and a landscape of destruction around her. Within seconds I had drawn up to about ten feet in height and my wingspan must have been at least thirty feet. A low growl escaped my throat. One of the figures turned around, away from Kassandra and was visibly shocked by my appearance. I recognized Hera.

What if? Part 5

Completing the transformation:

After that experience there was no way Pyrrha was going back to being Achilles. She was though, now heavily dreaming of Patroklos as her man. I told her in carefully dosed bits about the fact, that I knew I would die in childbirth as my second sacrifice, and asked her to take care of our child. She was devastated at first, but when I told her, that I would see to it that she would on one hand be able to breast feed the baby and on the other still keep her male genitalia and in working order too, she settled down and accepted her fate more and more happily, the more female hormones I administered. I completely left out the anti-androgens, as they not only were endangering the function of the penis, but also had serious side effects. Instead I went for higher doses of estrogen in its various forms and progesterone. In the six weeks before the birth there would also be prolactin. I kept her mostly in the dark about the “magic” I was applying. She was a bit disappointed at first, that I was not changing her instantly by magic, but I explained, that a slower transition would be beneficial to her, and thinking it through she agreed.

What if? Part 3

Troy:

It was only a little more than a week from there to Troy and even though the Centaurs had left us after the fight we did not encounter another pirate, mercenary or Greek for that matter. What had happened that night seemed to run before us like a warning: Don't mess with these women.

What If? Part 2

Into the void

:

In the morning of the possibly fatal day I said farewell to Circe with a lot of tears. I was tearing up so easily these days! But I knew I had to let go of her and everything here if I wanted to be able to come back and stay. As with my trip to Hel all I had to do was to imagine myself to travel to the place, where Demedea was going to give birth to a daughter of Lykomedes. Aphrodite had described the court of Lykomedes on Skyros to me in great detail, so I was able to picture the place in my mind. As soon as the picture was complete I disappeared, but I did not appear right away in the womb of Demedea. Instead I found myself in a void. No light, no sound, nothing. It was disconcerting to say the least.

What If? Part 1

What If …?

A story of heartache and pain, sins, misadventures, curses, a gods wrath and finally redemption.

What if even an ordinary mortal could alter history? There are so many theories as to what time is and what it would mean, if you could alter history and perhaps create an alternative time line in a parallel universe by that.

Well, being interested in Astrology and a technician I have always rejected such theories, just until I woke up in HER bed and found myself changed …

Lady in Waiting – The Story so Far

I must apologise for the very long delay in continuing this story but unfortunately my muse deserted me for about 2 years and I simply couldn’t commit anything to paper. I feel that now I can continue - please be gentle with me.
Before continuing with the next part I asked the readers on FM what I should do re-post everything again or carry on from where I left off.
The responses were split between the two options so I was still in a quandary. After a lot of thought I have decided to write a chapter that précis the previous 11 episodes. As this is a précis a lot things will be omitted through necessity. To read the story in full with the historical notes please use the link below and I think you will gain a greater understanding. But I also think that if you are new to the story you will be able to follow.

Story teaser

Here's a brief intro to a novel I plan to write, titled "The Winjkte and the Warrior". It is set in the Midwest in the late 1800s, and is a cross between Pocahontas and Dances With Wolves. Please feel free to comment. And yes, I am part Lakota...

I must admit, though, there are a LOT of Siouxan words and phrases used, and translations are given where appropriate, although most can be gleaned purely through context. When I publish it, whether here or through Amazon, I WILL include a glossary to aid my readers.

Author's note: I do not believe that there is a need for any cautions. If you find something that bothers you, do not hesitate to let me know.

This is a story that is set in the Old West and in the present day. It starts out slowly, but it speaks to the fact that transgenderism is not something new but has existed for a long time.

Note: I did try to make this story as accurate as I could within the confines of my research and to give the feel of India and England in the late 16th centuries. This involved giving people of that era 16th century attitudes and beliefs. Other than historical figures, any similarity to any real person is coincidental.
