'Daydreams Can Come True' Chapter 5

Daydreams can come True ’ Chapter 5
By
Julie Dawn Cole

I remember looking up at the huge arrivals board and still 40 minutes before the flight was expected to arrive and then maybe another 30 minutes at least or even more if it was busy through passport control. So time for me to buy a gift or even to escape.

My tummy was full of butterflies and it was churning so much after a while that I seriously considered whether or not to make a run for it and go back to my apartment. I tried to stay calm and consider the best and worst scenarios.

Open Your Heart - Chapter 3

Open Your Heart

Chapter Three

Janet set her burden down on the floor next to the tub and walked back out of the bathroom to the sounds of a rap remix of Canon in D using a keyboard and percussion. “We’re lookin’ on the sunny side,” incongruously sang the female vocalist doing melodic counterpoint. The song couldn’t be more inappropriate.

He walked out of the office, headed for his class with another note in hand. He wasn't setting any record pace today. Most of the kids dodged around him, some not really noticing him, until he got near the fifth grade classes. Then she could hear the whispers start up.

“That's him....”

“I thought he was dead.....”

“I heard he killed four guys in that fight....”

“I heard his thing was cut off....”

“....yeah, he took on Bruce, Frankie and Kenny after they cut him open.....”

“.....fought ten guys and won....yeah him.....”

“...oh?....Well he got shot, that's why he's walking slow....that's what I heard....”

Tracy did her best not to burst into laughter. He moved on down a hall, headed for his class. A familiar figure fell in step next to him. “Hey Peter.”

She reached down and kissed me before settling back onto my chest. “I love you,” she said stroking the soft lace of my nightdress.

Could things get better than this?

Sally Crewe

The next thing I remember was seeing some strange faces around be and I could hear Jessica screaming. I just wanted to close my eyes and go to sleep. My head hurt.

I couldn’t focus properly to try to recognize the faces. There was a light and I seemed to be on a stretcher.

I heard some more voices and I tried to wake up but I couldn’t. I tried to see where I was and saw some medical people. It looked like a nurse lifting my arm and a doctor at the other side of me.

“The rugby club is putting on a 'Top Of The League' ball next week to celebrate our success. The guys from yesterday were wondering if you'd like to be their dates for the night. That kind of includes you and Pete, Rich... er I mean Rachael. What do you say?”

I'm Touching You

I’m Touching You

By Julie D Cole

To A special friend amongst us who I want to touch today. No names.

Because you gave me your support when I first joined this site,
I carried on,what joy I found — at last a chance to write,

I looked at lots of work you’ve done and the Kudos you have scored,
So many girls have read your words, like me they’re never bored,

Because you touched me many times, since you said that first hello,
I’m now touching you with my good luck — and I just thought you should know,

Whilst some of us get all the breaks and others, just a few,
I’m passing on what ones I can, but this special one's for you.

“You OK?” I asked her.

“Yeah, you?”

“Better knowing we aren't lying to your folks anymore.”

“Yeah. You needn't have folded so neatly under Mum and Dad's cross-examination though.”

Seasons of Bailey: Autumn - Part 7

BaileyAutumnTG600.png
Only days after what seemed like a magical evening,
Bailey is hit hard on all fronts.
School, home, and even a visit to the doctor's office,
has Bailey recalculating and rethinking his approach to life.
It seems all he can do is try to keep his head above water.
However, a fresh face puts a new perspective
on how Bailey has been viewing things recently.
Perhaps there is a silver lining to his currently cloudy days...

Decisions
The Conclusion

Bob and Megan, a married couple in their final years retired for the night. Just before drifting off to sleep Bob made an off hand comment to which Megan agreed with a slight twist. They did not know something was listening and granted their wish. How will this challenge work out when they hardly know the rules of the game?

Sept 20, 2011
Newly edited through the unforgiving seventh grade English teacher. There are a few minor changes but nothing to alter the story. You will notice a change from first person narrative to third person in some scenes. This is intentional. The primary focus is from Bob/Sarah's point of view. I shifted to third person when Bob/Sarah was not involved in the scene and for areas where scene setting is involved. With that in mind it should lessen any confusion. I trust this helps convince you there is a method for the writers madness and it is not a lack of skill. This decision may be a failure but I did it on purpose.

“Everything okay, Son?” Conner asked. “I thought I heard crying in your house, haven't seen Tracy next door either.”

William was quiet for a few moments as Vance took his first swing. “No Dad, it's not.”

“What's wrong?” The older man asked.

“We learned something last night and it's tearing Tracy up.” William replied.

“What's that?”

William leaned the ax against the house and led his father away from the house. “Dad, the other day when she was attacked in your back yard it started behind the barn.” He pointed to the large structure that was on his property.

“Yeah, she said that. Then she ran, right?” Conner asked.

“It's more, Dad.” William led his father to the corner of the barn and he stopped, then they both watched Vance cutting wood. William let out a sigh and shook his head. “They attempted to rape her.”

Pastor Mike turned up for me at the appointed hour. He noticed, but didn't comment as I swept my long skirt out of the maws of the car door. It looked like I was in for a longer conversation than I'd planned.

Kayla dropped her school bag and immediately flicked on her computer. She was eager to see if Tony was online. She had met Tony by accident three months earlier, when she’d mistyped a friends IM address, but she’s glad she did. Tony had become one of her best friends, and she was always excited when he was online.

Soon, her computer emitted it’s usual welcome chime and Yahoo Messenger loaded. Kayla’s excited mood was deflated when she saw that he was offline. Kayla sighed, and started on her trig homework.

“What did I just do there?” She asked quietly, as she stepped from the cage. Walter fished out the lump of copper and set it on a scale. “Well, Lorna, it looks like you somehow reduced its mass,” he frowned for the first time that morning, “and unless you vaporized it, then I think you affected the metal on a molecular level. Lucy, you and Lorna go take off those electrodes and go to lunch,” he looked bemusedly at the lump on the scale with Leonard and Sheldon looking over his shoulders, “Gentlemen, we are down the rabbit hole.” Sheldon kept his mouth closed for once.

“Alice is fine with us helping for the moment. We were just off to the shops so we need to dash if we're going to get the bus. Is there anything you need?”

“From the shops? No I don't think so, thank-you.”

And with a wave we were away to the bus stop.

Here is the last chapter of "Night Entries". It doesn't have the tough stuff of the earlier ones, and it ends on a hopeful note. Thanks to all those who read and commented.

Well, we’re home, sort of. Trouble is, our house has been rented out, so we cant actually live there. For now we are in a motel, doesn’t that sound like fun? I have to spend like a hour on the bus to get to school, but oh well.

I didn’t know what else to say except ‘What happened, what’s wrong, why are you here?’

‘Chrissy I’m sorry but Jessica, Sally and Mary Jo were on the way to a restaurant and they were involved in an accident on the motorway. A van was speeding to try to overtake them and seems to have hit them and knocked them into another vehicle and then they skidded out of control and ended up in the ditch.’

‘My God. Are the badly hurt?’
