031) Fear of the Unknown

I think some small part of me is still resisting the changes I'm beginning to make. I think I'm, in some small corner of my mind, still afraid. Afraid of what I don't know about being female. Afraid of how people who don't or can't understand will treat me. Afraid of change. Someone replied to Heather's entry about losing her pet that it's a bit of a "system shock", after 16 years, suddenly losing a dear friend and companion, her dog. I kind of think that's what's happening to me now.

Four Years At BCTS

Four years ago I was getting up my nerve to sign on to BCTS. I found this to be such a warm and friendly place. Oh, there were a few soreheads and curmudgeons around; however, they were few and far between. A little more than three years ago, I decided to take the plunge and post the story I had spent several years writing. It was badly edited and proofed (by me); however, it was well received. Thankfully, Holly Hart took me under her wing. I posted two more stories before prostate cancer and some severely botched surgery knocked me on my rear for several months.

Out of it

My dog, who I have had for almost 16 years (short by 2 mo), was put to sleep today. She was old, had trouble walking, fell over occasionally, had trouble going up and down stairs. It hurts. It hurts a lot. I have been crying over it for the last several days. This has been really difficult to deal with. So, I wanted to let you all know, because I will be out of it for a while.

Take care and hug your pets.

Has the brown stuff hit the fan?

Well, I may have set myself up for disaster a lot sooner than I planned. I was driving home this morning, and I had some bottles belonging to my ex in my car, so I figured I would drop them off on my way. So I hit the corner near her house, and she's there, watching my daughter walk to school, so I told her about dropping off the bottles. Why does this mean bad things? Because I was still wearing my wig from work when she saw me. Right now, my only hope is that it didn't register with her, or WW III will start ahead of schedule ...

Jessica's Journey Part 5

Just wanted to let everyone know that the next part of the Jessica's Journey has been sent to be edited and hopefully I should have it back soon.

Sorry for the wait I was admitted to the hospital a couple weeks ago with a sinus infection that refused to leave because of the medications that I am taking, they suppress the immune system and made it hard to fight off. I have to see the doctor again this week and hopefully it has completely gone now, keeping my fingers crossed.

Bike Record

I'll wait for PS to do the official statistics, but just doing a quick count using the cat's toes, and counting back the last six or seven episodes, Bike has reached well over 2 Million words.

My mother always told me I would use half a dozen words where one would do, perhaps she had a point.

In keeping with the title of the story, I demonstrated the ease with which I manage to fall off bikes yesterday, thankfully no serious damage was done to the bike. Oh me, just a few scratches - bike riders is tough (unfortunately not as tough as the average road!).

About the Pain we feel.

I Haven't seen this asked or really discussed here so things happened to get me wondering something. I think talking about it might help all of us out.

There's a lot of Pain here.
There's a huge amount of it either emotional, physical, and all kinds of in between.
So I'm Asking...
When it really hurts, when it's that point where it's too much...
How do You?, How Have You? Climbed up out of that hole?

Answers anyone?
It can be anything, even if it just worked really good once.

Psychology of Gender

An interesting article about gender, with some explanations of hormone experiments on rats.

http://www.flyfishingdevon.co.uk/salmon/year1/psy128psychose...

Keep in mind that some of the data is more than 30 years old; however, it's still interesting to read.

I ended up there when I was trying to find out some of the effects of prepubescent castration in humans - basically, whether or not it would be the same as total androgen insensitivity. (apparently not, at least, not without providing estrogen therapy to trigger puberty)

So. The family meeting had been tonight.

This morning I had too much laundry to do and couldn't make it to church, when my mother found out about this, she was all like "what about the Bishop?"

I was like, "what, about the Bishop?"

She was, "Weren't you supposed to meet with him at church today?"

I was like "no..."

She said, "you told me I'd find out today, at church."

I know she's brighter than that, so she selectively misunderstood me back on Friday. I said, "No... I said you'd find out today - at the family meeting."

Request for thoughts

I am working on a story that is set in Denise's QT Diaries universe. It is the back story for a couple of characters that will appear in her next story release (Ep. V).

This involves an extremely rare case of twin QTs. The two are not originally even related, but are genetically 'merged' in the transformation.

One of the gained characteristics is 'twin speak', the non-verbal communication that twins use. I am thinking of portraying it as a limited form of telepathy, but am open to suggestions.

Looking for a story

I was thinking tonight of a short story I read once, about a post op young woman, dressing as masculine as she can, wearing a cap to sit and watch a game with her Dad, to give him one last gift from his "son."

It was a sentimental story, but I can't for the life of me remember the title, and I would like to read it again.

Hope someone can point me to it.

I just read a story series that was well plotted, well thought, a good read and... it made me fracking angry. Not at the author, not at the ideas presented, but at the concept of behaviour modification and ego death. The idea of 'We don't like how you think, so we will change the way you think'.

Even when I was trying to be one, I never really did understand the "other guys". Is it really so important that yours is bigger, or better, or stronger, or whatever? I'm competitive, sure, but mostly against myself. I don't really care if I keep losing to a more skilled FPS player - if I can manage to snipe him even 1 more time than before, I feel good about it. Congratulations ! Is it a boy or a girl ?

A recent BBC documentary takes an in-depth look at the question. Are there more than the two designated genders?

The documentary takes an in depth look at the inter-sexed condition. Apparently they are as common as the birth of twins or even those born with red hair. (These stats. say 1/50 chance. The birth of of inter-sexed babies are more common than most are aware of. Due to the shame and stigma it is not admitted to by the parents.

I personally always wished I was born with obscure genitals as it would be physical proof when I argued against my designated maleness.

And even as I started to accept myself internally, I struggled with feeling like there was nothing I could do - no way I could pass dressed as a woman, much less begin a transition, and yet here I am, on my way, able to go out unafraid, accepted at work, and even started hormones.

But this morning at work, my boss was all like, "So now you've lost all that weight, when are you gunna start bulking up?" Several other comments, and then, the bombshell: "You're starting to get a bit of a girlish figure." Damn. That felt good. Scary too though.

What story is this?

Trying to remember a story I read a while back:

It was about a boy who became a cheerleader and had a slumber party with them, where it was revealed that the football teams performance was based on the cheerleaders performing services for them before games. It was then revealed that the star quarterback was gay, and it would be up to the boy to help "get him ready" for the game.

Other tidbits:
-the boy had a twin sister, who would be given a spot on the cheerleading squad if the boy performed his task
