Questions about a "Transformation" site/store

Hello all :)

In my perusings I came across the site http://www.transformation.co.uk/en/home and wondered what other people thought about it? It looks like some of their products may be wonderful for the TG community. Artificial breasts, vaginas...etc. Looks like they may be of nice quality and would certainly be desirable. I don't know if the prices are reasonable as I don't shop for things like that.

Interview With A Fantasy

Authors of transgender fiction have written many stories on the theme of the male who became a female fashion model. What is it they say about "truth is stranger than fiction?" A young Serbian-Australian man is now the hottest thing on the female fashion runways of London and Paris. His* story trumps many of the fictional ones I've enjoyed reading here.

Here is an interview by an Australian television station with Andrej Pejic, his family, peers, and others in the fashion world.

Kudos by title

I just wondered if it was possible/difficult to pull out kudos for each story, possibly put it as a separate column in the my stories page. From my PoV it would be useful to see which of my stories/chapters were better appreciated (more specifically to see which ones bombed so that I don't repeat the same mistakes).

Sorry Erin if this opens a can of worms.

My Mother Called This Evening With, "Good News"

Edeyn At least, that’s what she said. I think it is more Pleasant News than Good News, personally, because it does bring up a lot of anguish from within me.

My baby brother died in September of 2007, on his way to school as a Freshman in High School (grade 9 for you non-North Americans). Home was between 100 and 110 meters from school. An old man (80+) was doing over 70mph (112kph) in the school speed zone during the time that most children are walking to school.

Well, I had an MRI a couple weeks ago, and now I know why things are the way they are. As far as I am concerned, I function pretty well, have no physical disabilities, and have been pretty successful in life. One thing that has always bothered me is that in certain social situations, I just mess up. I just don't understand what is going on.

Negitive self-image

I have been fighting a losing battle with negative self-image lately, and yesterday, I think I figured out why. I was working in the health and beauty department, restocking the hair color isle, when it hit me. Every box I put on the shelf had a picture of a beautiful woman, with flawless skin, amazing hair, and all the rest. Each picture was like water torture, eroding my ability to see myself as passable, much less pretty. I have to keep fighting this feeling. Despair is deadly.

Story word counts

I just about have Ch 3 ready, finally, and this afternoon was looking at the other two chapters to see how they matched up with Ch 3 and at the heading of one of the chapters, it said the word count was about 40,000 words. Well I already knew that from my having done most of my writing in MS Word; though I am now using Works until I work out some issues with using Word. That works out to about 25 pages and for me that seems like a comfortable amount of work to do per chapter.

BC-V1 Chat Meeting - Part 2

We had a productive but fairly technical chat meeting last night and hammered out some details of how the book will look and calculated again to be sure we can get 150,000 words into 320 pages of an 8x10 trade paperback with nice margins and typography. It is not only doable, I think it will be quite a handsome book!

The King's Speech

Last night we were fortunate enough to view The King's Speech. What performances by Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush! Even though I live across the pond, I was familiar with some of the acrimony between Elizabeth II's mother, and Edward and Wallis Simpson. I know that it carried over to the Queen. Neither of the brother's wanted to be king. Many say that The Queen Mother blamed Edward for George's early death. The fact that he was addicted to cigarettes certainly contributed to that. I don't think I was aware of George VI's speech impediment.

Big Closet-Volume 1 - Chat Meetings

Here's the idea, a trade paperback of around 300-320 pages featuring some of the best stuff that has appeared on BigCloset over the last eleven years and perhaps some new stuff, too. The book would be 6x9 inches, more or less, and retail for $15. That's around 100,000 words, btw. The book would be available to be ordered here on BC, through Amazon and possibly through other channels. There might be an electronic edition which would probably be sold for $10. And we might put the electronic edition into the Hatbox for contributors.

The usage of the apostrophe

OK, sorry people, I am not an English teacher, but I could sure use a little help here. I am aware that the apostrophe can be used to show possession or ownership. However, a word like "harm" can not own or possess, so I think it goes after the end of the word, like "harms'". Is that correct?

Well, I am excited that there is going to be a book version of big closet. My problem is, that I have probably read hundreds of stories since I started here, and thanks to having a brain built to drain pasta, I don't remember very many of them. So how do I nominate? The other issue is my own stuff. I am finding it hard to feel comfortable putting my own writing forward, when there are so many much more talented people here. But, I am going to make an effort to do both. find something I loved to nominate, and pick something of mine i think worthy of consideration.

Authors can only submit their own work, and in doing so are giving permission for publication. The only exception should be for an author who has passed on. In that case the submission must be approved by the estate.

Submission will be done publicly as reply to the official opening of the contest. no pm submissions. Submissions will include a link to the story.
