Bob Kames, a Milwaukee businessman and minor recording artist died recently. He was in his early 80's and in declining health. You are all going, "Bob WHO?"
He had a string of organ/piano shops in the area, recorded something like 70 albums over the years and played for a while with Lawrence Welk. But what he was most famous for was popularizing a German tune in the early 1980s, The Chicken Dance. One year after he started to promote it, they put an organ out at midfield during the halftime show at a UW Badger football game. Nearly 80 thousand students and alumni did The Chicken Dance. They have done it every game since.
You can hardly go to a wedding nowdays without at somepoint being subjected to it.
I say, let's give a 21 cluck salute to this promoter of high culture.
On a personal note this is the first tiem I have posted anything at BC using our brandnew DSL conection. Unfortunately it has done nothing for my spelling. Or typing.
