still having trouble logging in

Today, I have logged in three times. Each time, I have been taken to Part 25 of a story instead of arriving at the BigCloset Topshelf webpage. If I then click on the Topshelf icon, I arrived there logged out. If I log back in, as I have done three times now, I arrive back at Part 25 of Ian's story.

What is going on?

When coming to the site, I needed to log in. So I did and was deposited to the "Free Stories" page instead of the home page. In attempting to go to the home page, I found myself logged out. Logging in again, it was a rinse and repeat.

I finally clicked on the "home" link on the right side of the page and successfully arrived at the home page logged in.

The problem seems to be okay for me now.

The real problem is not what it seems to be. Most of the time it shows you as logged out, you're not. It's just serving you the wrong page.

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

Serving the wrong version of the home page

Yep, I can agree with that. Much of the rest of the site seems to be behaving normally, although I have not experienced the strange behavior noted above.

When on a page that says "Login", the only way I can be sure whether I am actually logged in or out is to scroll down the right hand sidebar looking for the Navigation heading. It is important to ignore anything else that may appear to show status.

Once at Navigation, click on "My Account", which will be there whether you are logged in or out. From there you should see either "Login" or "Logout" at top right which will indicate your true status.

false logged out state

I also have that problem from time to time.
Yesterday I found out that I just need to hit the reload button a few times until it takes more than a moment to load the page.
Normally a page load here takes about 10-20 seconds (from Germany, on a 50 Mbit/s connection).
When the false page with the "logged out" status appears, this loads almost instantly.
So we seem to get a wrong cached page instead of the "real" one which shows our login status correctly.

I have trouble logging in and I get sent to a story rather than 'Home'. Yes, I can sort it out but it's a bit unsettling. Then, if I'm not vigilant I get logged out again.

Same.

Same here: I just can't stay logged in (at least, according to the sidebar) from one page to the next. Also, how slow things have become!

A Whole New World

My old name (Gwen Brown) is gone. It seems that I can still access my old Author page and my stories. I haven't published much as Ahabidah.

The internet as a whole, YouTube, Amazon, KOIN, Al Jazeera, BBC, CNN, and almost any web page I try to access is very different from in the past. I don't know who has done it or the motive. Rumania, Russia, China and others have the ability. None of the search engines are like they were.

It is tiresome listening to the "Elite Effete" crow about how they can still get around. I am not that much of a geek, nor do I want to be.

I've had a mild case of MS (Multiple Sclerosis) for years. Sometimes it is awful, most times it is OK. There are bigger fish to fry than the internet.

Yellow Post it.

My primary focus is reading TG and Intersex stories on this site, and I mark my place with a Post It on the right side of my screen. Previously, I used the three dots on the upper right corner, but that has become unreliable.

Really?

Almost certainly you ARE logged in but are receiving an out-of-date home page.

Have you done what I suggested? Go to Right-hand column, Navigation, My Account. Click on that and the result will show if you are really logged in or not. If you are, you'll see a 'Logout' link up at top right and the refreshed Navigation panel will also have a 'Log out' option.

In almost every case when it says you are logged out it is showing the wrong information. There is no reason to keep logging in again - you are just seeing bad status!
