Update to my court event from two weeks ago...

I think most of you knew about the court issue I had to deal with two weeks ago from my last blog. First off I wanted to thank everyone who had commented... I wanted to respond to each of you, but my time was extremely limited in the days before we had to appear. We made the trip safely and after spending eight and a half hours at the courthouse ironing everything out, I can say at least I’m not in jail, no matter how badly my ex was trying to get me there. The end result was much better than it could have gone, but not as good as I had hoped. At least I can live with the decision... The problem I’ve had though, the stress over the last month+ had seriously screwed up my sleep... I was averaging four inturrupted hours a night, between prepping for court and just not being able to sleep. The trip I guess was the nail in the coffin. We made the 1400 mile round trip + the time we spent in court in right at 51 hours... I had gotten so exhausted I had been suffering from sleep deprivation and with work having the ‘best’ bosses (that was sarcasm) they decided that I had three days of work to make up and worked me 8 days straight... I started making mistakes, and had told them what was going on... I only caught grief from them... Like an idiot I kept pushing myself and this past Saturday I collapsed... That got me an overnight in the hospital and was sent home with some heavy duty sleeping aids to try to get my sleep cycle reset... I’m still tired, at least physically, but I am sleeping straight through the night again, and not jerking awake every 45 minutes... I’m starting to feel normalish once again.

Bottom line is, I’m still here and my stubborn butt is trudging right along... Hoping to get to where I’m writing again soon.

Much Love y’all,
Becca

Alimony

Why are you paying so much alimony when two kids are with you? Also why didn’t you file for a change in venue? Be well

Alimony is separate from

Alimony is separate from child support. The purpose behind alimony was to keep a housewife from being destitute after a divorce, because of the assumption that women wouldn't have any skills that would allow her to hold a job. For some, that's true. It's become less and less true over the years, but I've never even heard a devout feminist complain that it should be ended because women could stand on their own two feet just fine, thankyouverymuch, let alone anyone else. Alimony generally ends only after the woman is remarried - the assumption then is that her new husband will provide her support.

Alimony can likely be challenged, no matter what the state, if you can show that the woman has a good paying job on her own, especially with no children to provide for.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Be well

I wish you rest and recuperation. I hope your body and spirit have the opportunity to heal from this event and that your bosses eyes open to the hard working employee that you are and how they should not risk a valuable asset like you. Be well and be blessed.

Re: Be well

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a rough time lately, Rebecca, which resulted in that physical collapse you mentioned.

It's good to hear you say that you're recovering fairly well from all of that, and that you are sleeping normally again.

I'll add my well wishes to those of Cyarra, I hope you're back up to full strength again soon. Sending lots of huggles.
