Origin of Tracy Hide

I thought it might be a good time to tell you the background for my handle/id.

I have been a life long fan of animation. In my extensive collection I have examples ranging from the 1920s to the latest CG stuff.

About six years ago I discovered Japanese anime and was completely hooked. I particularly enjoy shoujo (girls') anime. This was about the time I started my transition and watching other girls go through their trials and joys really called out to me.

One particular series, Crest of the Stars, caught my interest. It is a great amalgamation of space opera and romance. The lyrics of one of the songs, 'Tracy Hide' really touched me. Here they are:

'Tracy Hide'
by The Wondermints
(c) 1996 Toy's Factory Music

Who is the girl by the railway station lost-and-found?
Her warm coat, eiderdown.
Her eyes are cloaked in auburn (cloaked in an auburn) brown.

Tracy (Tracy Hide) hide (elusive) go seek (when you run and hide in the dream world) within my mind.
Outside, (It's so sad) the world seems so unkind (the world seems so unkind) in the real world.
She (Tracy Hide) hides (elusive) Tracy Hide
Ahhhhhh...

Not far away from the schoolyard, carved an elegy.
'Til then, you're here with me.
The endless cry of an aching MELODY.

I feel her holding back the tears of time,
Haunting me like a nursery rhyme

Who is the girl with the paintbox-
Canvas the sad clouded skies-
Opens her eyes to find me here-
To blind the fears and the lies.
Alone, she's my one and only truth.

Ahhhhhh...

At that time I was coming to grips with leaving behind the role I had been playing for too many years and discovering the girl inside.

That little girl has grown up a lot since then, but the bittersweet memories remain. Every time I hear this song, I think of those times.

BTW, if you are a Beach Boys fan, you will like this song. One of the creative consultants was Brian Wilson.

Thanks for the MP3 link

Thanks, Grover,

I actually have the song on two different CDs, 'The Crest of the Stars' soundtrack album and 'The Wondermints' album. At the time, they were a bit tricky to track down. 'The Wondermints' album was hard to track down and, if I remember, was on the expensive side.

The 'Tracy Hide' tracks are different on the two albums. I prefer the 'Crest of the Stars' version.
