well almost.

So, as predicted i've not had access to BC for most of my time in GOC but i've scored some web time this morning before i head to the coach and the 5+ hour journey back to Brizzle.

What has been going on? Well its probably easier to break it down into threads rather than diarise things so first up, my aged father. Due to a Novo virus outbreak the day i travelled up i've only been to see him since the weekend, the news is a bit mixed. The broken hip is mending well which is good, we just need to get him up and walking! However, during the scans pre surgery they picked up that his lung cancer (result of 50+ years of smoking) has spread, not hugely but there is a lesion close to his spine. Today he's having an MRI scan ahead of the Oncology people deciding which treatment to use, at this stage we are talking non invasive. Of course its not the best place to be but its better than it could be, he may yet see 94 in November!

The main reason i planned the trip however was to celebrate my Grandsons 6th birthday so on Friday i travelled up to Leeds for the weekend. It was great to see and spend time with #1 daughter and exhausting keeping up with a child 1/10th my age! On Saturday we built some of his new birthday Lego and generally did what grandparents and grandchildren do. Then on Sunday we travelled across the city for a visit to The worlds oldest railway at Middleton with time in Middleton Park checking out the wildlife, cafe, ice cream and bluebells. We finished the day with an extended late lunch in Leeds city centre before i headed back to Sheffield.

So what else have i been up to? Not a lot really, i did get in a bit of a walk Monday afternoon which incorporated a visit to my recently departed BF's widow for a catch up and a cuppa before taking a quick stroll through the city centre. The other big thing was my trip to the Chiropodist on Friday, he earnt his money this time but i should be okay for a couple of months, six was pushing it a bit! (I have issues with a couple of damaged nail beds and an inherited condition which can cause bunnions and extreme callouses to develop)Yep, keeping the feet in order keeps me mobile, I've not been idle whilst i've been up here, i've walked something like 30km since Friday!

That is about it, i'll do the last bit of packing now, its 3 hours until my bus leaves so time to not have to rush to get there, the walk will be my exercise for the day!

I'll be back on Sunday with some hopefully exciting (!) news and a new Gaby chapter but until then,
Byeeee!
