September '77
Port Elizabeth weather fine
It was business as usual
In police room 619
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
-The man is dead

When I try to sleep at night
I can only dream in red
The outside world is black and white
With only one colour dead
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
-The man is dead
You can blow out a candle
But you can't blow out a fire
Once the flames begin to catch
The wind will blow it higher
Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko
Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja
-The man is dead

And the eyes of the world are
watching now
watching now

I Grieve With Thee Carpe Diem

I too have lost loved one's. It hurts when a soul is taken away from us. All the platitudes in the world can never ease the pain. Only time can in time ease the pain as we remember the good times.

Gandhi, Dr. King, Biko. They knew what they were doing. What the fight for freedom amd human dignity could cost them. Doesn't make it right, doesn't make it any less of a loss. Thank you for that beautiful tribute, Carpe Diem. It seems very timely here in September 2007, as the world watches the situation in Mynamar. More martyrs, dying for rights some of us take for granted. I can only hope Desmond Tutu is right, that "Good is stronger than evil, love is stronger than hate, light is stronger than darkness, life is stronger than death..."
And huggies to you,
Laika

Editing...

Once somebody "replies" to a comment, in a slightly smaller box below it,
you can't edit the content of yours. Whatever you wrote, you're stuck with.
Which is why it's not always a good thing to attach a comment to someone elses,
it removes their options to corect a mispeleing or whatever...

Anyway I knew that wasn't what you meant. I just thought it was comical,
My name in the honor roll of martyrs (a conceit I've been accused of a few times!)

Don't bother responding to this, because then I'll wind up responding
and I don't think we should be using the comments section for a chatroom.
Like you, I've been instructed to show a little restraint here...
