I'm writing a story that references Phil Donahue having cross-dressers on his show and I want to get the time frame correct. I need to know just how old one of my characters needs to be to have seen the show.
I can find them on YouTube, but can't find out when they aired.

The right age
So…go with 1969 or earlier. Have the mother a fan watching Phil’s show. Younger you must explain them looking it up via the internet. Catch tag could be that Phil wore a dress (nice floral midi) for that show? Looking forward to reading it.

I remember the show
I just hit 62 a few days ago. While I was not a fan of any of the talk show, I worked late shift in my late 20's through my mid 30's and those were the only thing on TV at certain times of the day and I seem to remember it in the early 90's. So maybe 90 or 91?

I remember the ones on Jerry Springer. Not so much Donahue. I thought he sucked so never watched it. But I do like a good train wreck.
Many times
Phil Donahue had crossdressers, trans women, and men on his show many times. I remember a couple of different ones. They had to be in the early 80's because after 84 I did not watch the show, I got a paper route that year and was not able to watch the show then. The one time at the beginning of the show he wore a dress to make a point that it should not be a big deal. Another there was a red hair trans lady on it who was an actress and she was there with her loving partner. Her bob haircut and how loving those two looked are still vivid in my mind. I bring the details because watching those shows made me feel better about myself and helped me come to see that nothing is wrong with me.
