It’s customary to wish people a happy new year on December 31 (or it is, in our culture, since we foolishly moved it from more-or-less the date of the vernal equinox). And of course, I do — so happy new year everyone!

But I also wanted to say a word of appreciation for 2022. After ghosting in and out anonymously for years, I finally created an account and really participated in this community. And you’ve been incredibly welcoming and friendly. You’ve read my stories— silly and serious— and given me great feedback. I’ve made new friends, and honestly it’s been years since I did that.

So thank you, all of you, and especially Erin and the team that make everything possible. Thank you for a great year, and I hope 2023 brings you all every joy!

Much love,

Emma

At least, 2022 wasn't 2020 too. ;o)

Every Year Is the Best One

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
~ Hunter S. Thompson

Although Emma, I have the feeling you will arrive as beautiful and glamorous even better than the brightest movie star.

Another one bites the dust

I'm happy to see 2022 in the rearview mirror, not that I expect 2023 to be much better. The Radical Reich is still hellbent on tearing down any vestege of civilization, and the so-called silent majority seems content to let it crumble all around us. The only positive note is that my timecard is soon to be punched for the final time, so at least I won't have to watch it happen. Good luck to the rest of you that'll have to try and survive the final moments.

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end of our elaborate plans
The end of everything that stands

The end
No safety or surprise
The end
I'll never look into your eyes again

2022 turned out to be a wonderful year, I thought. (Perhaps not if you were Russian...) Here’s hoping 2023 will be just as good: a year of opportunity, success and personal growth.
