I'm sorry to hear that
Though I can understand your reasons. I stopped visiting the Gabyzone back in early 2007 I believe, due to not only the small number of really active users but I also had constant problems attempting to access the site.
Perhaps there's some way to simply have story commenting and discussion at the end of each chapter, similar to how FM, Storysite, and BCTS do it?
Keep up the good work - the Gaby stories are always fun to read, and I look forward to Wednesdays and the change to see the next chapter.

I'm saddened to hear that too
the GZ has been poor for some time and I used to be a major contributor. Now when I do an episode of a fanfic, it doesn't even get a mention. I hope this doesn't mean a closure of the Gaby site itself and the fanfic stories, some of which are pretty good.

I hope your stories and such continue to be available. I'm guessing you mean gabyzone.com is what will be closing down. I have looked at it at least once a day and seen no hijacking signs, which I know doesn't mean anything. What else will be closing?

I assume Maddy means that:
a) Gabyzone will be closing. While it will be a shame, apart from a brief resurgence of popularity last year, the forums have for several months now been dominated by a single user. Hopefully the image galleries (as far as I can tell the only main source of content other than the forums) will find a new home elsewhere.
b) The #gabyzone IRC chatroom - or at least, the Mibbit web client interface to it (which is primarily accessed from Gabyzone).
Maddy's stories will continue to be available from her own website - sorry, websites (mustn't forget the new German translation!), and I assume they will continue to be the primary place new Gaby stories and Gaby fanfics are published (as well as Chris/Nena, which I think Maddy said somewhere once that she is planning to pick up again).
So presumably new episodes of Gaby will first be made available in book form (both paper and electronic download from Lulu), followed a few months later by serialisation on her own website. And possibly, at an indeterminate date in future, they may possibly be serialised over here.

I am so sorry to hear that Gaby zone will be closing shortly. As someone who loves the Gaby Stories I recommend the stories to one and all.
I wish the German site every success. Do not worry about the ‘perfect’ German. One of the largest German Engineering companies (Siemens) holds all their technical meetings in English, just to save time. :-)

Maddybell.com and .de are not closing!
We may relaunch the Gabyzone in the future if we can work out how to prevent a repeat of the recent 'take over' scenario.
The mibbit chatroom will remain open - Piper won't shut it although i did ask her to. However just to back up my reasons for withdrawing from it I have had it open for over an hour this evening with 11 users logged in and not a single comment!
