A link via the Daily Wail of a dormouse who seems to have gone into torpor or early hibernation in a nest box. I don't believe it's hibernating, they usually do so in nests in the ground, it's far too vulnerable in a nestbox, so I hope they removed it to a safe place.

Anyway the clip is fun although the camera didn't appear to get the sound.

Cute!

Although some commentators pointed out the obvious problem with the headline, which seems to imply the only reason he doesn't know he's a YouTube hit is because he's hibernating - surely even if he was awake he wouldn't be aware he was going to be a YouTube star?

It is from this trait that they got their name, which comes from Anglo-Norman dormeus, which means "sleepy (one)"; the word was later altered by folk etymology to resemble the word "mouse".

As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

I noticed the bandage on the thumb of the researcher. I wonder if that was from a dormouse that was *not* snoring?
