Hi all. You can just blame EOF, Lilith and others here for this, but I'm going to try getting in on the Universe creating thing. Not that I don't already, but this time it's going to be officially OPEN! I thought I'd post this blog, and perhaps others as I finish getting things ready, to see if there's any interest.

The Universe is called The Wyld. On the surface the world is just about exactly the same as ours, until the year 2000. Then all hell breaks loose as random people develop awesome magical powers... that they have absolutely no control over! Lots of property damage, people getting changed or killed, and lots of chaos. After a few high profile events involving especially large amounts of damage/loss of lives, things really get nuts. Countries fall apart, borders change, etc.

Then comes 2002, and the Wyld (as the magical people are called) suddenly change. They appear with much greater frequency, but their powers are weaker and much more controlled. They also sometimes change physically. That's when things really start getting interesting! ;)

I don't want to give too much away too soon, so I'll leave it there for now. I've already written my first story in this universe 'A Wyld World' at 17,000 words and am 6,000 words into the next one. The first story takes place in 2008; the second in 2011. My plan is to work my way up to 2023, which I consider to be 'present day' in this universe. Though any interested writers are free to work within those times like I am.

I'm exploring a lot of stuff in these stories, from the physical changes that can happen (and there's a lot), the magical powers they can develop (ditto), the way people react, the way governments react, the religious angle, etc. Most of my stories will take place in the 'former' United States. I say former because they broke up into several smaller countries. I've made a map but I want to edit it some so I won't post it yet. ;) I'll probably also have a story or two in Japan and have one planned for England.

I don't know if anybody will be interested or not, and won't be officially opening the universe until I've posted the first part of 'A Wyld World' and a universe rules page (I intend to post both on the same day). However, if anybody is interested, feel free to PM me to get more info.

I'm not sure when I'll be doing this. I want to get a little farther in my own writing, and I'm having some trouble getting the logo right. Plus, I'd like to get a little feedback!

P.S. I won't be working exclusively on The Wyld, though my muse has grabbed on with both hands on this one. I will be continuing my one story a week posting, so I'll alternate between my other stories and Wyld stories. So I won't be posting Wyld stories really often, but there shouldn't be huge gaps, either. Also, if anybody wants to write in the Kittyhawk or POWYHL universes you can contact me on those. They won't be open like The Wyld, at least not yet, but I would love to see others writing in them as much as in The Wyld. I'm keeping VC closed, at least for now, because I have a lot of plans for that one and it would get really complicated (like it isn't already!).

P.P.S. I'm not the best communicator, though I'm working on that. So if you PM me and don't get a response within a couple of days, please resend? I'm on BC pretty much everyday so it shouldn't take me long to reply unless I'm really busy or get a lot of PMs, but sometimes I'm worse at that sort of thing than others.
