I've gotten in discussions about books a few times now, either in comments or PMs. Is there a way to embed links to Amazon in our messages so this site gets their affiliate credit? I see the ad in the corner of the site that lets the site get a commission from Amazon shopping, but don't know if we can make that more general.

Just wanted to know in case we can make those links ourselves. Might as well - I'd be quite happy to see the site get some credit when I shop there.

Thanks for any help.

Not everyone here would benefit (AFAIK)

As a good number of readers/visitors are not from the USA so a link to Amazon.com is hardly what us johnny foreigners want.

Does amazon.co.uk or amazon.de or amazon.fr operate credits like the .com one does?

If I am wrong then great but often what at first glance seems like a simple idea is actually very complex.
Only last week, a customer proposed whet they thought was a very simple and easy change to one of his systems. It is actually going to take me 50+ hours to implement and I was the one who wrote the program in the first place.

Fair enough

I was hoping there was something simple, like just adding a tag to the URL, that would register it properly in Amazon's site. By no means was I looking for a general, perfect solution. From the ad link, I gathered this site already has an affiliate program going on, and was just looking to use that as appropriate.

We will try this...

I've added an experimental module to attempt to turn links to amazon.com automatically into affiliate links with our ID. We'll see if it works.

Fantastic, and thanks

Great to know - I'll be sure to link to amazon when discussing books in here. Hope it brings in some extra money for the site.

Thanks again,
