Need Advice concerning Atalanta's Story. Readers Needed.

Printer-friendly version

About a year ago I became enamored with Atalanta and her story from Greek mythology and I knew I had to write her. Several years earlier I read a story from Julie O "Fresh Start" that captured my imagination. The only gripe I had with that story was I felt the character in it was too helpless and dependent. I wrote several introductions to that story to satisfy my cravings. Atalanta was her antithesis so it felt natural to plop her into the same locale with similar elements and different outcomes using one of the introductions.

After a year, several rewrites and edits and over 200 pages and 100,000 words I overlooked the ending of chapter 2. The two characters Tara and Cari have no business in this story and is their only appearance. I wanted to add some Native American lore is the reason I left it in and intending to work that angle into the story later.

Now for my angst: I can delete the ending and leave the rest of chapter 2 alone, I can rewrite the chapter which I have done which brings another set of problems.I don't what happens if I post chapter 2A alongside 2. I don't want to delete chapter 2 and the comments nor the kudos.

I wonder if I can get three or four of you to read the alternative version of chapter 2. I feel it flows better but at this point I'm confused and not thinking clearly. The alt. ending necessitated changes in the middle of the chapter and I added a scene of good cop/bad cop between mom and Judy that helps explain their motivations. The 2A version will need additions to chapter 3 but should follow the storyline after that.

That still leaves what to do with the chapter posted. I guess I could go into and edit it but would doing that show as updated or leave it on the back page as an old entry? That would be confusing to readers of chapter 3 who has read the original chapter 2 but not to others who just found the story.

Can you help me?

Thanks

Katie
