I'm gonna be gone soon. Was delayed until 8am (45 minutes from now) but will be gone until late Sunday evening. I'm actually really curious... who are the favorite characters and who are the most hated villains?

I wanna know...

Who is your favorite character and why?

Who is your favorite villain and why?

Who is your favorite peripheral (minor) character and why?

Please discuss while I'm away! :)

We have a new candidate

The boy who kicked away her board in the contest WAS the worst but her cousin Wendall has lept to solo first place. What an ass-hole.

What is worse, what will Allie, Kate, the girls and Evan think when they find out or the Aunt? The kids all went off to plan some suprise party for Annie and they facilite a rape. Will Annie break up and tell them? Will she try to kill herself? Wendal need to go to prison. I'm curious, aren't a large proportion of abusers and rapists kids who were abused? Who raped or abused Wendall, his dad? Or is Wendall simply twisted?

A nasty but riveting chapter. I'm sorry you had a real life experince bad enought to draw on to write this but then there are several wonderful people here I know of with similar tales to tell. I will respect their privacy.

Please let Annie be okay and maybe after they all know Wendall and that ass-wipe skater boy can be involved in a fatal head-on crash, them being the only fatalities. God I hate this slimeball character.

Great stuff, I don't know how you could stand to write it.

P.S. Where are you going? I hope you have fun.

P.P.S. Favorite side character? Several but Kate has risen fast in my opinion since her revealation and ups and downs. Have to think about the other questions.

Grrls!

Ok lets do this. Wendell is beyond doubt the most popular face for playing darts on. What he did was beyond the pale. I echo everything John said and even that is too good for him. On a much sweeter note it's Ann who just takes what life throws at her and just keeps going. Her stubbornness and spunk gives her loads of character. Allie her twin is my next favorite. She has stood by Ann and supported her before anyone else. Her love and support for her twin is wonderful. I'm going to break the rules and include another as a favorite. That's Dad. He has taken the turmoil of his family in stride and is doing his best for them. The latest comments talk about Ann worrying what Evan would do if he found out about Wendell's horrible act. I would worry about DAD. He flat out told Evan to leave if he couldn't accept his sister. Is there any doubt he would have defended her if needed? What makes Dad so dangerous is that he does thinks. Evan would just beat Wendell to death. Dad? I wager if pushed hard enough Wendell would just become another missing person. I might be wrong but I keep seeing a core of steel in him that is flexible and strong but has an edge as well.

Hugs and Good journeys Edeyn!

Favorite: Annie of course! There are just so many things to like about her. She's kind, compassionate and very loyal. She has a great inner strength even though she doesn't see it. Her biggest flaw, one so many of us share, is self-esteem and determination. She has a tendency to 'give up' when it comes to fighting for herself. She'd defend one of her loved ones like a tigress I have no doubt, but look at her reaction to the guidance counselor. That's a major difference between her and Allie. Faced with the same situation, I can imagine Allie would have pitched a major fit right there in the office. If I could have my choice of resolution to the latest turn of events, it wouldn't be for friends or family to coax Annie into telling what happened - it would be for Annie to get mad and realize she is not at fault here. I know in a situation like this that is the hardest thing in the world to do.

Villian: Wendell - I think the reasons are obvious. Wendell is a classic predator. His threats to Annie about Allie were very carefully considered I think - I doubt he would have attempted the same thing with Allie because he knows he would not have gotten away with it unbloodied. In Annie he saw someone vulnerable, someone he could prey on. Maybe he was abused himself but frankly I don't care - it in no way excuses him. A quote from Robert Heinlein comes to mind: "I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do."

Peripheral: There are several. Jenni was the first one that came to mind. She's a real grrl of action. Evan is another, because he had the strength of character to admit he'd been a jerk and turn himself around. Allie - because she is always there for her sister, even when no one else knew she had a sister. And of course Mom and Dad. They are dealing with tremendous stress and doing it with extreme grace.

On the subject of Dad, I agree with you, Grover, that he would protect his family. However, Dad does think, as you say, and his first thoughts here would be for his family's welfare. He would first let the legal system go to work - if that failed, then the gloves might come off. Evan, on the other hand, is much more likely to simply storm over to the garage and through Wendell out a window.
