I'm trying to track down a story I read on BigCloset a while back. It was the story of a character who transitions and then goes on to play cricket for Australia. If I'm remembering right the story ends on a sad note. Does anyone know what story I'm talking about? Thanks everyone.

Cricket Story?

There was one but I cannot remember the title, and the URL I do have can't be found.

It was by Author OES, but the author's page makes no reference to any books.

I may be wrong but I seem to recall that the author may have been unhappy about something, and may have renoved it. Perhaps others can provide more information?

It was a great story (it helps if you understand cricket but that's not a pre-requsite to enjpoying it). The ending was somehwat sudden -- and, as you say, on a sad note.

OES' Story

It was called Simply not Cricket if I remember right. It was sadly pulled from BC at the author's request.

I remember that.

It ended rather sharply, and in an anti-climatic way. I got the impression that the author got tired of writing it and just slapped on a quickie ending. I want to say that there were some snarky comments back and forth between the author and some readers there at the end, but I wouldn't swear to it. I think the only reason I still remember any of it is due to Danni from Angharad's Bike stories. Everytime Danni and playing for England comes up, I recall the cricket girl, even if I can't remember her name.

The Metamorphosis

Kafka, The Metamorphosis, the character transforms into a cricket, or something like that.

Esentially piracy links...

By Erin

I unpubbed a couple of posts here that showed how to download copyrighted stories that are for sale elsewhere but are no longer available for free on BigCloset. If people want to post such links thru PMs or email, that's one thing but publicly offering what are essentially piracy links is not Friendly to authors and so violates Rule One. Sorry.

Not quite kosher
Well, in some cases the wayback machine - "piratic site", but on other occasions - well-respected site. Where here is the objective laws?

The Wayback Machine

Is an active archive site trying to save the history of the web by snapping up samples of web sites. Sarah Myles is a very beautiful cross dresser. Honestly, she looked more "girl next door" than most of the GG out there. Or she could really turn up the charm and look more movie star quality than most actresses. She decided her family came first and scrubbed her URL web site after she let me copy it. (sorry computer crash wiped me out). Her web pages were still listed on the Wayback Machine for months. She contacted them and had her web pages removed.

"IF" one plans on scrubbing their stories or their existence from the web, it is almost impossible. However with due diligence one will probably be able to make it improbable anyone else can find an erased past. Keep that in mind when posting "anything" to the web. The web doesn't forget.

...at least for my own part that I need to respect an author's choice to remove a story as mere courtesy. It's easy to retrieve a lot of creative work, but like Dr. Malcolm, I believe it's helpful to recall that before I consider if i can find a story that's been un-pubbed I ought to consider if I really should seek it out?

Unless someone is selling a story or has specifically asked for no links, I don't see a problem. The rules are on the side bar and there are only three of them. They are loose and subjective because that is what works.

Yes the OES story was the one. Such a shame it's not here anymore. Thanks for the archive link. I'll try that.
