I doubt I'll be here at that age

let alone able to ride a bike. I'm 41 years younger than M. Marchand and ride at about that speed now when I'm trying. However, I hope to get a bit more riding this year when the weather improves and the nights draw out a bit further. Having said that, the cycling is up against my other interests of dormousing and birdwatching.

What I did find interesting is the continuing belief that vaccination causes autism - the evidence suggests otherwise but fewer and fewer parents are getting their kids vaccinated for things like measles. The article link below shows how serious that is soon going to be in the US, where it seems 'belief in nonsense' outstrips scientific evidence and not only affects elections but also child health. I wonder if orangutans get measles?

Yes

All the apes can get measles and most monkeys, too. In some monkey species it is rapidly and almost invariably fatal. No proven safe vaccine exists for non-human primates, as far as I can find out from the literature. It is in fact, so deadly for monkeys that the virus is almost unknown in wild populations because any infected individual carries an almost total death sentence for the whole colony, preventing more spreading.

I was referring

to the one in the egg shaped office, or should that be orange-utan?

'belief in nonsense'

'belief in nonsense' is certainly the best explanation for both the election of Trump and the anti-vaccine movement. I suppose I could add climate change denial to that list.
