Name change

Okay, then given the content and the responses from my last blog post, would it really screw things up if I re-wrote the story and changed Sissy and Mistress' names to something else? I think I can do it without messing the continuity of the stories up at all. Just a name shift.

Note, I'm not changing MY name. I earned the title "Maid" from my wife, and I'm very proud of that.

Name change

You wouldn't want to change your name, if you did that we wouldn't know who you are!

There's no doubt the word sissy is a somewhat emotive one, especially in a place like this. But like I said in the first bit it all depends how you play it, well sorta what I said. The only time I have ever heard the term sissy used as a family/sister thing was in a movie set in Sthn US. Why do hits drop off? I dunno, but it happens to almost everything, maybe the instant gratification low boredom threshold idea kicks in. Hey even Angs Bike doesn't get the hits it did. Too much new and hip stuff to latch onto perhaps. But hey your first ep has 1000 more hits than my most read thing and while it's way down you do okay if not gangbusters. You can't compare really, I like your saga and the way it's going, even if bits may be a little out there. Sissy? Well you could maybe if you feel you have to. Mistress, I dunno that is a semi central theme to the story so... It's your choice and if you feel you have to and can successfully, go at it.

There are waaaaay too many Sissy stories out there and most of them are complete crap. Yours is good, but does get tarred slightly by association. Do what ya gotta, but be careful you don't mess the flow. Maybe a little disclaimer/statement such as, 'don't take the sissy in the title to mean this is a humiliation story, the word can be more, so give it a chance.

Themes are there to be messed with and so they should be, sissy's and maids don't have to be sex slut humiliation fantasies. People can play nice and if there's a bit of dark it just highlights the light don't it. Keep on huh.

Kristina

erm

How can sissy be more? I really dont get how that can be a good thing...

as for the story, I didnt read it because of that fact. I take personal dislike to the whole sub genre...

I'm sure your story is well writen, it seems to have gotten good views, but the subject is just one I abore...

miss the point?

Sorry Alyssa, this is not a 'sissy' story, so perhaps your reaction is enough of a reason for Joy to change it. As I said it is an emotive word and one I dislike, but... this story I do like. More? The word can mean more than what you and I might instinctively take it for.... then perhaps this whole 'conversation' simply makes the point she should change it. Are we so blind we cannot see, or maybe we are not willing to look, just in case. I nearly didn't read it because of the title, but I did and thought it was great. I still do. If it was a sissy story I would not have continued and I sure wouldn't be commenting here in support. Joy's story, her decision.

Kristina

While I know many...

... people with siblings referred to as Sissy and bubba (My younger daughter has a big sissy, for example). I, like many others, make the assumption that stories HERE using the term "Sissy" refer to that sub genre, and the term alone is sufficient to keep me away. That said, it may well bring in readers that are looking for that kind of story and widen their horizons. I dunno.

Just my 2 cents, and given what you can buy for that these days, that's probably all it's worth.

Wrap this one up.

Maybe you could just finish up this story and start another, being more careful next time with the names. It's just a story, you're an author, cut your losses and move on.

Mr. Ram

DON"T call me sissy or girlyboy !!!

When I was still entertaining the delusion that I could be a bad girl; trying to be part of the leather community, someone read me and said I would make a good Sissy, or Girlyboy. Well my hip shot; too sudden to stop answer was; I am a woman, and if anyone has a problem with that ...

Though I would never call another author out about that, it is not a term that I want applied to myself. So, that may be the rub with some others. To change your work to please others; well, to me it is like taking a razor to my baby.

My editor gets that privelege and sometimes has to deal with tears.

I might have overlooked the

I might have overlooked the actual content, but I really dont like to read such stories, as gwen said, I'm quite offended by the whole thing... I am a woman... because im young, attractive, heterosexual and HAPPEN to have a penis does NOT mean I want to go around dressing like a slut or a little girl and fucking every man I meet or my 'daddy'. That genre promotes that Idea and it sickens me... While I respect it has different meanings as some above said, however tenuous, I think here it is not such a good idea to use it without clear explanation that it is NOT as they claim.

Being Sort Of Anal-Retentive

I checked on the early hits, at the start of the series, and they were over 2000 per episode, but have since declined to a few hundred.
It struck me that the initial interest was possibly because the general readers were expecting a standard titillating sissification forced-fem story and were turned off when they found out it was actually a well-written thoughtful story about a soldier wrestling with his gender identity.
I've said it before, Joy. The choice of what you do with your story is yours. I personally would be very disappointed if you stopped writing it, but that's your call.
Would it help to change the names of the characters? For my money, no it wouldn't. You are 15 chapters in and have an established core of loyal readers who have accepted the characters and look for the next instalment of "Sissy". I doubt that the hits would dramatically increase, but what do I know? Perhaps new readers would go back and start from the beginning. I like it the way it is,

Joy,

I just joined the community, primarily because of this story and Karen Page's New Style of Education series, so this is a newbies view, FWIW.

This is your story and if you choose to change anything about it, ANYTHING, then please let it be because it is a change that YOU feel necessary to make. Too many times in this world, people change things to please other people and disregard their own feelings on it.

Having said that, I certainly don't think the names need to be changed, but would definitely not think less of you or this story if you did.

Hugs,
Marlisa

Sissy Name Change

RAMI

I must have missed this post when it first went up. I do not think you should change the characters names. That said, perhaps you could change the name of the story or add a second line to the title.

An Example

A Sissy's Story

The story of a soldier's search for their true identity with the loving help of a good friend.

Putting in soldier, may take away the stigma that "Sissy" is a wimp being dominated and living in femdom by an unloving domineering
b*tch. The loving shows that this is not a typical man-hating sissy story.
