It seems rather strange to realise it is not 12 months since I first had a peek in the closet. Who knows, something might fit... and what do you know... some did.

All sorts of outfits from sweet and pretty to wild and sexy and any and everything in between. Some discreetly wrapped in brown paper begging the, 'Huh what do you do with this?' type question. Or maybe an embarrassed blush. All those racks and shelves and dusty back corners.
But of course, it is another's closet, so not everything fits nor would I expect it to.

Motivations and expectations will vary, sometimes widely, but the predominant theme is I think acceptance. Not always easy, though on the whole, it is managed admirably. Pain and fear, longing and desire, joy and love. It is all here somewhere. An exploration into the minds and souls of all those that write, comment or just visit anonymously. Dangerous and scary at times. Don't want people looking THERE!

This is I think a unique site, a tribute to Erin, Bob and I am sure others that do who knows what to keep BC as it is, maybe even improve. Tough call, change is scary. I often wish I could do more.

And what is the purpose of this... well to acknowledge. This little 'world' is important, it helps. In all sorts of ways with all sorts of unvoiced or searching questions and thoughts. To be 'easy' is often hard. Peace is a personal challenge, probably not just to me. I have no doubt; this place helps. Long may that be so.

I actually look forward to another year. Something that has not always been true. Perception and degree, highly individual perhaps. Though often very similar from one to another I suspect.

So... Happy Christmas and a bright New Year to all that come this way... and even those that never will.

As a now departed comedian used to say as he closed his show and raised his scotch glass in salute as a 'devilish' twinkle lit his eyes

" ...and may your God go with you."

Peace and Love

The BigCloset is intended to be just what you perceived it to be and you couldn't have paid me a finer compliment. I don't always succeed in making this a welcoming place for people who may have reason to feel marginalized but I try and I get a lot of help. I coudn't do it without the authors, donors, commenters, editors and even just the readers who show up and keep the numbers up so I can sell ads and authors can see that someone is reading.

And Bob and my other helpers, too.

It's a good thing it is a BigCloset or it would get crowded in here.

Oh, and thanks for the memory of Dave Allen. I didn't know he'd died so it was bittersweet. For those who don't know, Dave Allen was an irreverent Irish-born comedian appearing on the BBC, ITV and PBS from the 70s to the 90s. The world is a funnier, sweeter place because he lived.

Wonderfully Put! This is a place of birth and wonder...

I was born here several years ago, as were more than a few new authors! It is the FAMILY and the help one receives freely and mostly lovingly. Giggle, giggle.

As with all families, we have our squabbles, hissyfits, and throw tantrums from time to time. Isn't that what families are all about?

Mom (Erin) is here to be the mom. She keeps the peace, makes us shake hands or huggle to make up and we do. (SMILE) She gives us presents, parties, and her much valued wisdom and advice! Always here to hold out her arms to anyone in need. That's our mom, and we love her very, very much!

Yes, the big Closet is a special place and is getting noticed far and wide! Look at all the birth notices we post now! Another new author and another new family member!

Members, look at the membership list! GEEZE!!!!!!!!! Giggle, giggle.

The commenter's, our "defenders" and even the lurkers all have something the contribute. They all belong here!

I think that is the biggest part of the BIG CLOSET! We belong and have a place be. To gather and share with each other and know that we belong to one of the best and biggest families in the world.

Huggles and a Very Merry Holidays to ALL!

A special huggle to MOM! You deserve them all Erin!

"Be Your-Self, So Easy to Say, So Hard to Live!"

An Echo of Appreciation

Just to subscribe to Kristina's and Angel's sentiments. And to join them in thanking Erin for all the time, effort, and wisdom that she has devoted, continues to devote, to ensure the lasting success to this most remarkable site.

And it is remarkable. For all the reasons that Kristina and Angel have already mentioned but especially for the feeling of family, of mutual support and encouragement. Remarkable and infinitely valuable.

And of course all appreciation to Bob and all the others who help to make it such an important element in so many people's life. They also serve who only stand and .... well not exactly wait, but more beaver away in the background. And when I refer to beaver in the background I don't of course mean ..... Such a wrong note to strike at Christmastide!

Anyway my heartfelt thanks to you all. Oh and a very Merry Christmas to all who pass this way. May we meet again often in 2007 and in the years beyond,

Fleurie

A Place of Wonder

I read the comments and completely agree! A picture appeared to my mind's eye and I'll share. A cartoon of a child's bedroom (Think Bloom County by Berkeley Breathed) and the closet door slowly opens revealing a light within. The child's eyes open and s/he gets up and investigates the light within the closet. Looking within is a wonderful place of friends, and dreams come true. Not a place of anxieties or even a place to hide, but a place to grow and become yourself. With a smile and a skip the child enters within and the door shuts softly behind, leaving only the faint sounds of laughter and happiness behind. Thanks Goodness it's a BigCloset!
Thanks ERIN!
Hugs to all
