I know this has nothing to do with tg topics, but I wanted to share this any way.

Last Wed night, my parents, my wife, my son and I went to see the new production of Les Miserables, it is currently at the Papermill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ thru this next week, and then continuing on tour thru the US. I believe the next stop is in Philadelphia.

My son had come to enjoy the music from the 10th anniversary concert, but had never had the opportunity to see the show, he was enthralled, it was great to share this with him.

The show was fantastic, if you get the chance and it comes to your area, I highly recommend it. It has been changed slightly from the original English production, most notably some major set changes, based on the paintings of Victor Hugo. For the most part the new effects only enhanced the show, without calling attention to themselves.

I can't recommmend it strongly enough to those that like musical theatre, and if you have enjoyed Les Miserables in the past, this production is well worth the price of admission!

September 1987

I was so lucky. My wife, her best friend, and I saw it in London. We had tears before the first song was over. It's a powerful work, really a modern opera.

That had to be great!

That had to be wonderful. Sept 1987 was the month after my wife and I got married. We did see Les Miserables on Broadway, don't remember the year, but it was when Deborah (no longer Debbie!) Gibson was playing Eponine. She did a fine job.

The 25th anniverary tour is a new production, I believe started in Wales in 2009, as I said, it has a different set, for example the turntable for the battle and marching scenes were gone. But the music is the same, and the story is the same, with some minor adjustments.

One of the best changes is when Val Jean is carrying Marius thru the sewers after the battle. The special effects on that are really good, it looks like he is really walking down and thrue the sewer.

As I said, anyone that enjoys musical theatre and is lucky enough to be where this show is touring thru, don't hesitate to grab tickets for it, it was an absolutely wonderful production of a great show.

Hugs,

Kristy
