There are wacky Allstate Insurance commercials where a man portrays a young teen girl. What's so funny is how macho he is. I am wondering why the company made them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtP-S9OS0o0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFVpaQGltrI&feature=related

The man in the ads ...

... is attempting to portray automobile-related threats in a matter-of-fact way, to underscore the fact that accidents happen all the time for the silliest of reasons, including ogling pretty girls instead of watching the road. In other commercials, the same man (whose name is apparently Mayhem) pretends to be a high wind that drops a large tree branch on a parked car, or a teenaged girl texting whose boyfriend breaks up with her while she's driving (and winds up causing an accident). Apparently, the overarching message is "cut-rate insurance doesn't cover a lot of things, so you should choose Allstate."

I'm a State Farm girl myself. *grin* Haven't let me down yet!

He is not TG, he is

He is not TG, he is portraying Mayhem in all it's guises.

There are other ads where he causes a large tree branch to fall on a car, is a faulty GPS in a car, driver that has a spilled espresso moment while driving, is a loose team flag that covers a car windscreen causing an accident, and more....

I agree with you and Laika...

...(BTW, 'x' has always been one of my favorite letters.) The ad isn't tg; it's supposed to represent examples of the 'mayhem' a policy owner might undergo if they don't subscribe to Allstate. A good example of what some might consider a TG ad was produced by Campari for the their Red Passion campaign a few years ago. Almost makes me wish I drank something stronger than Diet Pepsi.

If you think those are bad...

Over here, there's a division of esure car insurance called "Sheila's Wheels", which targets its products at females.

Their advertising strategy is certainly unique - and I should warn you in advance that:
a) they contain a lot of pink
b) the jingle is a veritable earworm
c) Can you say "Tongue in cheek"? :)
c) worryingly, they've got their own YouTube channel. And fans. Female fans. I kid you not.

And remember I said they'd got fans?
