Hurricane Sandy looks like a big angry girl.

All of you in the USA Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and as far west as Ohio and West Virginia, be careful out there!

Be safe.

Yeah, right!

Just keep telling yourself that! ;-)

They don't presently expect...

Us to get much this far west. I'm on the far western shore of Lake Erie, Ohio's side, just barely.

Those of you in it's path or near... Stay safe.

I'm also in NJ and am

I'm also in NJ and am hunkered down as best we can (last time we had stuff in case we had no power for a few days but this time... not so much). I hate to say it but it couldn't come at a worse time. My grandpa is up from Florida and was supposed to be heading back Tuesday but we all know how the flights are going to be. My dad is in a worse position because he was to be on a plane to Brazil tomorrow night. We got a friend coming from her house on the beach (or so I am told she is coming) to stay with us. With Irene, all we got in my town was a bunch of rain with wind and nothing else. With Sandy, we could get anything from rain to being near the eye (I am ~30 min from Sandy Hook if anyone is wondering).

I also ask everyone to be SAFE in this storm. There is a SOE in effect for good reason.

Hopefully the power won't be out for long this time

The last major storm to hit this area, just outside D.C., our power was out for just over a week. In twenty-six years, it was the first time power was out for more than two days. The heat, humidity and steady rumble of all the portable generators made sleeping a challenge. If I have to go through that again, I'll breakdown and invest in a portable generator of my own for future use. At least we did not lose water pressure and could still take cold showers which aren't really much of a hardship during hot weather.

It's the challenges which make life interesting.

Cyclone season starts Thursday.

I live in Fiji, and our annual cyclone season starts on Thursday. Cyclone season is stated as November - April, but typically December - March is the active part of the season.

Stay safe, stay dry, and be prepared.
