The new Caitlyn Jenner formerly Bruce is on the cover of Vanity Fair , in one word WOW

Yes, she does, but

almost anyone who has the kind of money that is behind her could look as good. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy that Caitlyn has finally on the way to being who and what she believes herself to be, and I'm happy that we have yet another "FACE/NAME" to espouse our cause.

I just sort of wish I'd had the opportunities that Caitlyn has and the money to appear the best I possibly could, the way she has. Jealousy I suppose.

As a T-woman, I do have a Y chromosome... it's just in cursive, pink script. Y_0.jpg

I have to agree.

When I saw that cover picture the first things I thought were

"No way. That is not the former Bruce Jenner."

Then

"That has got to be a case of some serious photoshopping because that doesn't look anything like the person we've just been seeing in interviews."

After I thought about it for a moment I started to come to the same conclusions as Catherine here and Karin below. Having the money for the shrinks, hormones, and various procedures will have a big impact on how you look during a transition. Having an expert photographer with an excellent staff to give her a major makeover probably made a major difference on that photo shoot because honestly, she does not look anything like the old Bruce we've been seeing recently. I just can not see "him" in her.

Don't get me wrong, I too am happy for Caitlyn, she looks astounding, and I'm glad to have another well know person to help advocate for the Transgender. I wish her all the best.

But I'm definitely jealous and wish I had that kind of money to throw around. It's just not fair.

Through the lens ...

Don't forget the magic of Annie Leibovitz!

But I wish Caitlyn the best, glad she's happy, and I'm thankful that she bucked the trend and didn't spell it with a 'K'!

Mixed emotions...

Mrs. D. says she looks great (with the caveat about having money and such). She says she's still not so sure about the whole ts/tg issue in a general sense, which leaves me stuck in the partially opened doorway of the closet. It's very frustrating and often painfully sad. But still closer to hopeful than ever before.

And yes, Caitlyn Jenner looks great and I'd love to look that good..... ah well....

Haven't seen the picture yet

But I'll definitely want to check it out.

Anyway, good for her.

Money certainly helps, but I think it also helps the rest of us that someone so much in the public eye as "normal" has come out.

It helps build acceptance among the general populace.

First, who did her makeover...

...because if the new Caitlin looks like that, I'd love to see what miracles could be done with my face. I am so intensely jealous of her right now.

By the way, I love the name--she looks like a "Caitlyn". It certainly beats her rumored name, "Belinda."

I'd be interested to see if she's been working on her voice. A look like that needs the proper voice to go with it.

Voice

Can't agree more.

Makeup changes. Easy imho, especially if you already have electrolysis.

Voice. Nobody can instantaneously give you a great voice (unless one is a prodigy of course or was naturally feminine sounding in the first place) from say surgery or therapy.

Generally it takes a lot of patience and discipline and time to accomplish that. If you really want to think about it it is in a sense 'sound makeup' but one you adopt permanently. I am much more impressed with T-girls who have great voices.

You got it right though. The wrong voice and/or body movement on that look would be jarring.

She most likely needs speech therapy...

...not because of the pitch of her voice, but to rid herself of a very noticeable lisp. That can also be rather off-putting.

Inspiring

It's nice to know that even if you wait until later in life, an excellent transition is possible, with a large enough budget.
