I am reading a certain main stream Author's stories again after 25 or so years. He has one series of books about 12 books long and with my experiences in the intervening years, I am more sensitive in recognizing certain tendencies that seem to be common among TG genre folk.
The way he and his team of researchers have handled certain subjects in these books makes me suspect that a good many of our stories right here in BCTS could survive and perhaps do well in the main stream market, especially those with relatively mild and brief TG content.
This revelation has caused me to re-think my approach and I can think of two of my stories that I may try to sell from Amazon after I do some more work on them. I am thinking that "Lt Katia in Afghanistan" and "Battlefield to Crib" may be my first entries into that effort. Both stories will get substantial rework and fine tuning before they migrate there.

Many of the stories here on BCTS are as good or better than much of the main stream stories I see today! I'm a wee bit biased I suppose... but I've been a heavy duty reader for fifty years now and have enough books at home to open a public library so I do have some experience to rely on when I say "more BCTS authors should try selling their stories to the general public".

Mainstream TG
There have been a number of mainstream books with TG plots. Jack Chalker has written quite a few and so has Robert Heinlein.(sp?)

TG or not to TG?
There is one Sci Fi author, whose name I can not remember, who wrote a space opera where the uniform for both men and women included a skirt. The reasoning was that skirts were a heck of a lot easier to get into and out of in case one had do don a space suit.
The shore leave uniform was plain skirts for men and fabulous gowns for women.
Sigh.
