I have a psychological question for you all.

Why would I want to scare myself right now?

Most of my life, I stayed away from horror movies (monsters and zombies, fine, Jason and Freddy, not my thing), but last week I was meandering through the internet and came across a list of scary films, and found myself searching for the scariest I could find on youtube (its called "Grave Encounters" if you want to find it) and watching it. And now, I want to see it again, or the sequel, if I could find it.

And I have no idea why I would want to watch something like that right now.

So why would I want to scare myself, especially right now?

You weren't able to deal with them in your past. Horror movies are supposed to scare you and entertain. Maybe you have healed mentally enough where you can appreciate them for the 'fun' of being scared without fear of causing yourself a panic attack.

As long as you are enjoying them, there isn't a problem :)

I've heard the theory...

that scary movies are a way of immunizing yourself against the real monsters, so you can function in real life. It also explains Halloween.

Personally I can't stand horror flicks, but it is a personal preference.
