spoons

a while back Bailey Summers did a bit where he used the analogy of using spoons to represent a portion of one's physical, emotional, and psychological strength to deal with life.

While he was using this analogy for a physical illness, I think it applies to me as well, and let me give you an example.

I suffer from G.I.D., PTSD, Bipolar, Attention Deficit, and social anxiety, all of which cost me "spoons" every day to deal with them. And while transitioning and counselling have reduced the number of "spoons" needed to deal with my gender issues and my past traumas, I still often find I don't have a lot of "spoons" left to deal with any new stresses.

Right now, thanks in part of the heat, I've been having trouble sleeping which reduces my daily number of "spoons", and I feel like I'm just about out before I even go to work for the night, and I am really struggling.

Ah, well.

I agree

I don't suffer all those TLAs but Fibromyalgia and the latest, Microscopic Polyarteritis, give me much the same choices as you have. The spoon theory seems to sum up my life very well.

Do too many things now, pay later. Pick something I can do, make sure it is relevant and necessary, leave other things until tomorrow. Somehow, I find time to write amongst all that, but writing doesn't involve too much physical effort, thank goodness.

Perhaps my latest sig is serendipitous.
