Her mom has been keeping her awake and keeping her from working, most of this week, and now she's so upset she's ill.

Let's be good to her and not hassle her.

Posting of Green Sun 13 may be delayed because I'll be editing and picking an illustration myself.

Potato soup

In my family, as long as it's not the flu. Homemade Potato soup with bacon and LOTS of garlic is what helps the healing process.

That and my magic quilt.......... People always scoff when they hear about my magic quilt, but EVERYONE who has wrapped up in it, has felt better and gotten better sooner.

SO Erin, try some potato soup and a magic quilt.

p.s. I'll try not to cause trouble until you are back to full strength. :)

Potato soup

I can't make you potato soup.

I can't give you a magic quilt

or even a souper-soft duvet or eiderdown.

All I can do from here is wish you well.

So get well Erin and I too will try and stay out of trouble even AFTER you get back to normal!

Lots of big hugs and warm fuzzy feelings inside

Nick

Thanks, everyone

I took a short nap and a long drive and I feel better.

Potato soup is a specialty of my mom's but I've never seen anyone make it like she, her mother and her sisters made it. German-style egg dumplings with potatoes and onions cooked in milk. With butter in there somewhere, I think the onions are cooked in it first. :)

I asked mom for the recipe once and she said, "take some flour," and I said, "how much flour?" and she said, "how many eggs you got?" :)

hugs,
Erin

ooooooh

I have never had it that way......... with dumplings, huh?

I chop up some spuds, cover them with milk, add a stick of butter and put them on the stove over med. heat. Chop up some bacon and fry it up. drain it and add it with chopped onions and lots of garlic salt, pepper, various seasonings, usually oregano. cook it until the spuds are nice and tender. grate some cheese over the top, maybe add a dallop of sourcream.

it's realy good in a bread bowl too.

Mom made a great, simple potato and onion soup

For a woman who married at 26 capable only of making a PB & Jelly sandwich and burning water, she became quite competent.

She claimed dad ate a lot of burn half-raw and worse things and smiled. Fortunaly her mom was a three miles and a phone call away. Mind you mom was a pretty thing and I'm sure she made it up to him. Yuck, my parents had sex -- with each other! I always thought I was brought by the stork or the US Post offic. Fex Ex wasn't around then. They and UPS bring babies now.

Potato and onion is great. Other healthy, soothing variants add some finely shreaded carrot or very thoroughly cleaned -- the have a lot of grit between the leaves -- leaks in place of the onion. Pure heaven in bowl.

I've been scarfing soup and bouilion all week with a nastily timed cold -- I was on vacation this week -- HAH!

Rest and fluids, Erin.

FedEx and UPS Bring Babies?

Maybe THAT'S what's behind the recent rumors of a merger between the two of them then. I heard they were gonna call the new company FedUPS...I dunno if that's true though.

Feel better soon Erin. You do so much for all of us, writers and readers alike. I wish I had more than a get well huggle to send you, but I don't. It IS, however, a great huggle. Fur lined and quilted so...

No, John

You don't want leaks in a bowl of soup, makes a mess!

BTW, the USPS still does the baby deliveries, after all it does take nine months for them to arrive! Bill Cosby did a riff on this - babies should be like Polaroid pictures, kiss your wife, wait 90 seconds and POOF! Of course, you had to remember to dip them in the lacquer, or they'd fade.

Erin, hope you are better soon, this being nice is killing me!

When Mom's feeling sick

I remember the few times when my mom had been feeling sick enough that she actually went to bed and stayed there the whole day. The house was a lot quieter and everyone seemed to tiptoe for some reason. I guess it was such a rare thing that everyone was kinda in shock or something.

Erin sorta feels like the mom of BC/TS, working so hard to keep everything going, without complaint or asking for any praise.

*shuffling feet and staring at floor*

Well, Erin-Mom, I just wanna say I really appreciate all ya do, and I hope ya feel better soon!

PS: The dishes are starting to pile up and Dad somehow managed to burn salad. ;P
