One of the most frustrating aspects of my life is my struggle with personal care tasks. It seems like I have a hard limit on the spoons I can spend on them, which means even on good days I'm having to choose which ones I can attempt and which ones I can't. So its like I could shower, but then I wont be able to shave. If I shave, I wont be able to brush my teeth, or stuff like that. All of the above assumes a good day, as things are even worse if I'm depressed, sick, or fighting with my PTSD.

As I said, this is frustrating, but I cant seem to find an answer to the problem.

Ah, well.

Try this, see if it works.

Experiment, and see if something like this works:

Make brushing, showering, shaving your "Grooming" unit. Showering can help ready the face (I don't know about other places) for shaving. Brushing teeth is just basic hygiene, for self and those close to you.

Of the three, put the priority on teeth. None of us have enough real silver spoons to melt down to pay a dentist ...

My hope is that by grouping the three as "Grooming" (and >enjoy< that shower) as one unit - do it kind of on auto-pilot - you will come out feeling good, feeling better about yourself, and hopefully, get at least one spoon back.

Do your grooming with bathroom door (mostly) closed. when you reach for the doorknob, you can do a 'spoons check', and see if you enough to also do the shower and shave, or enough to finish with shaving.

I enjoy a scented soap for the shower. I buy whatever my nose likes, often peppermint, sometimes lavender.
