A Conflict of Expectations

I had hoped to post the first installment of the next Masks serial today. However, "things happened" over the holidays (nothing majorly bad and a few things good, including some nice presents) and I'm only about halfway to the planned final length. I only just got my main villain of the piece completely fleshed out this morning! (He has connections to Rasputin, with some of my inspiration from Doc Savage and a bunch of other sources.)

I do have the main plot outlined. I have about the first third (probably) completely finished, with the middle third mostly needing more description and background. The final third has only a few sketches written and by far needs the most work. I'm going to try and have a marathon writing session this weekend and get it to at least the point where I can start posting by Monday. If I do that I'll probably still be polishing at least the last third as the first few parts are posted. However, I can make no guarantees. As this morning taught me, there are times and situations where I have to go back and do some rewriting of things I considered finished.

I like the ideas in this. I also have the rough plot for the next story. All this on top of working on several non-TF short stories and novels I'm writing or trying to market. *Sigh* I had so much more free time before I retired. :-)
