Hey Everyone! Whew, it's been a crazy two weeks since I started writing The Mockreet, hasn't it? If you were wondering, yes, I have been writing as I post, and it takes about four hours to write each chapter. In fact, there are four chapters written that I haven't posted yet. Reason is that this last chapter is one that I envisioned from the beginning and it's very important to me; I want everyone to have a chance to see it before it's moved off the front page. The Beltane rite is extremely important in this story not just because it explains the 'fen and fern' idiom, but also because it represents Lyra's ability to finally let go and be the girl that everyone already knows she is. Letting go has always been one of my biggest problems - I have trouble releasing myself from the male stereotypes that society has bound me to, and I feel like I move kind of robotically a good portion of the time. Lyra in many ways is what I wish I could be, and what I never will be.

In may ways, writing is a healing process for me. I learn through my characters, and try to apply these lessons to my life. I learned a lot when I wrote 'Allison's Pledge' under the pen name Audrissa almost four years ago and I'm learning now through Lyra. I hope you're all learning with me, or at least having a good time.

Now we're moving on toward a more complex part of Lyra's story arc where we learn what the Mockreet is, why Axock is hell bent on conquering the world, what happened to Hybra and most importantly, hints at what Lyra's ultimate fate will be. As such, once this part ends I'll be switching to the once a week schedule to ensure that the story is told the way it needs to be told. I'm glad you've stuck with me this far, so let's go all the way to the end - at least the end of this story.

Love it so far

As the story unfolds, I get to see how much of what I envisioned as possible arcs come to pass. Part of reading a story like this is seeing if I can guess where the author is going. I'm about 2 for 10 in what I thought would happen. Though some of what I'm thinking is still in Lyra's future.

The story is good even if I can't guess where it's going. If it was too predictable it would be boring. Lyra's breakdown caught me totally off guard. It was a lot to assimilate given where I thought the story was going. But now I see how it's integral to her development.

Keep up the good work.

That story is as broken as I

That story is as broken as I was at that point, the plot holes are enormous and tbh, people started losing interest when I started the second story arc. I'll revisit it someday but in a different form.

I just started reading your story today

And I really enjoyed it. I will admit I didn't understand the title of your story and it took me a while to start reading it, but when I saw chapter 25 posted, I realized you must be committed to the story, and so far, it's been a great ride, and it has me wondering what is in store for our new girl Lyra. The way this story is written reminds me of George Martin and Game of Thrones, (without all the sex). Keep going with it as long as it takes you.
